San Diego Faces Own Medicine as Arizona Residents Cancel Travel Following Boycott of State
Source: Fox

Arizona tourists are biting back against San Diego for its city council's decision to boycott the Grand Canyon State over its immigration law signed by Gov. Jan Brewer last month.

Would-be tourists have notified the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau and some hotels that they are canceling their scheduled travel to the coastal vacation destination, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

According to the newspaper, the convention bureau has received about 25-30 emails from Arizona residents, with some saying they are canceling their reservations and taking their money elsewhere.

3. Isn't San Diego the conservative part of the state?
That's where their comrades are. They ought to be boycotting some other part of the state.

6. Of all the sister cities of California....
San Diego is the batshit crazy aunt who should be committed to a mental health facility.

Have you ever even been here?

Do you think the city is batshit crazy because our city council voted to boycott Arizona, or is that just your own prejudice talking?

24. You're right about that

I lived there for a year and San Diego has by far the most rude and inconsiderate people in the country.

And I should know, I've lived all over the country from the east coast to Alaska.

San Diego has a diverse mix of people and politics. The city leans Democratic, while much of the rest of the county trends Republican.

We have a wide variety of immigrants here, major educational and research institutions, and a thriving LGBT community. Two of eight city council members are openly gay. That would be the same city council that voted 7-1 in favor of a statement condemning Arizona's new immigration law.

Did you even bother to read the first paragraph of the article cited in the OP, or the body of the OP?

4. In a realated story
A couple dozen residents of the lower level of Hell (who never leave anyway) announced that they will be boycotting Heaven. Seems there is a new shipment of pitchforks arriving and they want to poke each other in the ass with them.

9. There are many more potential tourists and convention goers in Southern California than in Arizona.
And those who are boycotting Arizona will want to go somewhere -- and San Diego is a desirable destination.

And it's a good place to go to a convention. (In addition to other attractions, for those of us who are cheap, there are good hostels there -- a great one right in the middle of the Gaslight District.

20. It's funny
I've traveled throughout much of CA, but have never been to SD.

I heard it's a beautiful city, even though it's filled with nut jobs (though by AZ standards, they're all probably flaming liberals).

23. This strikes me as intentionally misleading.
"the convention bureau has received about 25-30 emails from Arizona residents, with some saying they are canceling their reservations"

Why word it like this? Why not say how many instead of saying "some"? Maybe because "some" is 2 or 3?

In any case, 25 to 30 isn't a lot.

25. Did they have reservations in the first place?

I'm betting it's a few tea baggers who had no intention of visiting San Diego in the first place.

I'll make sure we email San Diego to cancel out two of the laughable 25-30 bigots.

29. Two things
1. San Diego is a BIG area (not as big as L.A. or Riverside, but big anyway). It is large-enough to have nice, friendly areas (San Diego), as well as right-wing enclaves (Northern San Diego County).

2. If any of those 25-30 people giving up their vacation plans were planning to be there for ComiCon, can I have their room?
