CHECKING OUT THE FACTS WITH RUDY
Now we have Rudy Giuliani, the silliest bastard running for the White House so far, humping Bush's leg like a love struck doberman with a 10 inch wang. He did this while stumping in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Here's Rudy, as quoted in the DesMoinesRegister.com:
"He will be, I believe, a president who will be viewed by history for this one decision as being a great president,"

Holy shit Rudy what did he do?

"He decided in a flash to put our country on offense against terrorism."

Bunkum, blather and balderdash.

Let's check out some facts Rudy:
1. Incurious George ignored multiple warnings about Osama bin laden such as the 8/6/01 PDF warning "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US."
2.Your idiot hero waited almost an entire month before invading Afghanistan--ample time for Al Qaeda to either dig in, hide or flee. He told us to go shop.
3. Lost Osama at Tora Bora, and quite frankly never finished the job in Afghanistan. Al Qaeda has now reopened the terror camps on the Afghan/Pakistan border.
4.George's next move was to invade Iraq--a country that had nothing to do with 911. A country lead by a secular dictator that kept his boot on the necks of Islamic fundamentalist nut cases as they where a threat to his power. Boot's off now Rudy.
5. According to multiple intelligence agencies--agencies not run by MoveOn.org or Micheal Moore--the war in Iraq has created more Islamic terrorists than we had before 911.

1. Agree with everything you said except this...
2.Your idiot hero waited almost an entire month before invading Afghanistan

You can't just execute an invasion in twenty-four hours. We're powerful, but not that powerful. I suppose you could attempt it, but the result would probably be a huge disaster.

2. Point taken but, we could of targeted their camps with missiles.
We knew where they were. I believe Clinton did it once, without a months preparation.

3. And he ended up doing little more than destroying a bunch of empty buildings.
But my suspicion is that Bush likely wanted to avoid war in Afghanistan in favour of war in Iraq. He probably figured it was worth threatening the Taliban with destruction in order to give up bin Laden before going all-out in Afghanistan. Even more true when you consider the history of great military powers like England and the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

My guess? He wanted to shoot his wad in Iraq, and only in Afghanistan if he couldn't avoid it.

4. You know WHY those missile attacks failed, don't you?

Operational security was supposed to be kept until the missiles crossed the coast of Pakistan, only then would the Pakistanis be told. However, someone leaked the info to the Minister of Defense some 2 to 3 hours before the launch, speculation is the the Pakistani secret police (Taliban supporters) found out... result, empty camp (but only by 30 minutes). Also the Navy captain of the sub surfaced WITHIN SIGHT of the shore before launching, in complete disregard of SOP.

5. I agree. It's almost like Afghanistan was just something
he had to get out of the way to satisfy the American publics thirst for revenge--then it was on to Iraq. What a fraud.

6. It's been the redheaded stepchild of this entire process.
I really shudder when I think of what might have happened if we'd concentrated on finishing off the Taliban and rebuilding Afghanistan instead of going into Iraq. It's such a fucking mess there now, and it didn't have to be that way.

7. And since we didn't do the right thing there, I believe we have
emboldened the religious nut-jobs and given the Afghans little reason to trust us.

9. What did it accomplish?
Or what should it have accomplished? It *should* have accomplished capturing members of al Qaeda and hopefully bin Laden, and it should have removed the foreign occupation of Afghanistan by the Pakistan intelligence services (A.K.A. The Taliban.)

Afterwards, attention should have been paid to rebuilding the country and allowing the Afghan people to decide how to move forward now that the Taliban and the Russians were gone.

Instead, we done blowed the place up and then, by and large, we left.

10. Nothing.
Maybe if we finished the job there--by that I mean kill or capture Al Qaeda, destroy the Taliban--then help the people there get on with their lives. We half assed it.
