CBS: Obama To Announce Supreme Court Pick Monday
Edited on Sun May-09-10 07:42 PM by usregimechange

WASHINGTON (CBS) ― President Barack Obama has apparently decided on whom he would like to nominate to take retiring Justice John Paul Stevens' place on the Supreme Court bench, CBS News reported Sunday.

Edit: Apparently this is just breaking, on top of CBS news page with no link.

2. I will find it hysterically funny if it is not Kagen...

as, it might well be strategically smart to allow for a weekend of hand-wringing over someone other than his candidate prior to the announcement. It might just take some wind out of the sails... We shall see.

5. Yeah but
can you imagine the insanity whenever he announced a decision. Teenage girls passed out on the steps of the court just waiting for the ruling...

It would be too much for the news organizations to handle.

6. Would it be possible after 12 years to get a far left progressive judge?
Ahhh.. I didn't think so. Sorry to ask. We will have to settle for whatever the DLC says is acceptable to Wall Street and the Lobbyists...

8. Wood notified that she is NOT the nominee - link below

Also,
Over at SCOTUSblog, Tom Goldstein is reporting that “the Administration plans to identify its nominee in ‘guidance’ at 7:20am tomorrow morning, with a formal announcement by the President at 11am.”

What does 'in guidance' mean?

10. Let's not forget about Jennifer Granholm (51)
Everyone says Obama will pick a woman, and one article says the magic number is 50.
If Wood is OUT that leaves Kagan and Granholm.
Obama spent the day two Saturdays ago with Granholm in Michigan,
so she is still a possibility :)
