God, If you're out there, now is the time to prove yourself and prove whether you exist.
Our planet is dieing. Bleeding a toxic sludge that is poisoning our oceans.

If we cannot contain this oil gusher, it could be a planetary life killer.

The ecology of our oceans is a very delicate balance. Upset that balance and... I'd rather not find out.

75% of Earth's oxygen comes from our oceans.

Other than calling for 'divine intervention', what other ideas do we have left to stop this disaster?

Where are you "God"?

Your so-called 'creation' is dieing.

Where are you?

Your zeolots, like Pat Robertson, clamored for us to keep drilling. Said it was safe. I assume Pat got his advice from your voice in his head.

So, if your leading 'men of the cloth' preach it, then I expect some intervention when all hell breaks loose and mankind's utter stupidity gets the best of him.

Where are you?

2. God gave us brains and/or each other to deal with this kind of thing
It's up to us to apply what we're given in the most effective way.

Sucks to be us, but that's the way it is. Maybe one day we'll learn. Maybe it will take a "reboot" before we finally get it.

3. God works in strange and mysterious ways, that's what they used to tell me! In my book this
means any God would say, let the assholes wipe themselves off the face of the earth and we'll start anew with a better species. As one of my friends used to call humans, a failed extraterrestrial experiment. The latter becomes more evident each day.

Not all of us have failed, but enough in positions of great power, wealth and greed to take the rest of us with them. In the old days it was more localized, but now they can take the whole planet with them.

For decades I was the perpetual optimist, but I'm afraid I've lost my optimism over the past couple of decades plus.

It takes a pretty dimly lit bulb not to see what is happening.

19. I agree with every word you've written
And whether you agree with your friend or not, I do.

Fail, fail, fail, Epic fail. Doesn't deserve to be around. I know I'll get flamed for that, but so be it.

Cher

22. Yep, exactly. What I always ponder is how do we ever get the "right" people
into positions of power/wealth to make a difference. The corporations are driven by greed, many making decisions are, so often the best approaches go unheard. I guess it will take just one episode after another until really real action occurs.

4. if he exists he gave us dominion over the earth and we screwed it up
an eternal being can just start over, the 5000 years of human history is nothing.

Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

We don't deserve divine intervention

We as a surviving dominate species may not.

6. I'm beginning to conclude it's no longer a question of 'if,' but when. We have
too many powerful toys to play with today and sadly often those in charge over them exercise poor responsibility and integrity. There are not many original species surviving on earth, I don't see why humans will be the exception if we maintain our present course. As you say, the planet will survive just fine. Humans seem sadly bent on self-destruction IMO.

the sooner we realize we need to clean up our own messes, the better off we'll be.

15. There was no GAWD to the rescue to prevent the Holocaust
I am convinced that the only GAWD that exists, is the one we created in our own minds.

The Holocaust was proof that there is no god or gods!

21. We are alone. We fucked up all by ourselves, and there is no sky daddy that is magically fixing it.
The sooner we as a people stop using a mythical non-existent being, as a selfish excuse to deflect our responsibilities as stewards and caretakers of this planet, off of us as human beings, the better off we will be.
