My latest post to my Lung Transplant Blog....
Today, well yesterday, it’s way past midnight as I write this, my older brother came up from Columbus just to take me to lunch, catch-up and to see how things were going for me. Funny, we hardly mentioned my lung transplant issues or his chronic illness. We just don’t, as members of the Green clan, seem capable of seeing those 500 lb gorillas that occasionally take to lounging in our “family” room.

Don’t get me wrong, it was still a very good day for the Green Brothers. We drove around the old neighborhoods (I still live in the city where we grew-up) and talked mainly about family, the Cavs playoff chances, women and of course, business. You see he is a partner in a small CPA firm and I do taxes out of the spare bedroom. He does auditing for a whole mess of companies down there in Central Ohio. Me, well I do a few tax returns just to keep busy.

It sure does me a world of good to write about all this that is happening to me.

Thank you for your support.

3. He was in Germany right after the war....
He went in at 17 and spent almost a year keeping the peace after the formal war was over.

6. Reading you thoughts on him it seems to me that he was traumatized at
about that time and carried some form of PTSD.

Having worked with refugees in SE Asia I can see how trying to cope with Germany immediately after the war would be as traumatic as actually fighting.

7. He was an Alcoholic....
It runs in our family...

He had some major John Henry issues and by that I mean he was trying to do some intricate machine work by hand just as computerized milling machines were coming on line...

He did give it his best shot but it wasn't enough.

After that, he kind of gave up, started drinking heavy again and then had his stroke.

I think he was happy that the match was settled for him.

2. Thank you for sharing this
As I am waiting for the results of a medical exam which I am now more optimistic about, after spending last weekend in tears (got 90% clear result on Monday) it was helpful to me to read about others who live with life-shattering medical problems. You have made a difference for me. Thank you.

5. Sometimes you don't need words to communicate...
I suspect that's what's happening with you and your brother...

As for support...You will always have ours.

Always.

Thank you for letting us see what's in your world...
