Kucinich is candidate Americans can trust
Letters to the Editor are a great way to fight the Corporate media-I just found this one...

You can tell a lot about a person by their actions. In the same respect, you can tell a lot about a politician by what they have done in the past.

With this in mind, I invite New Hampshire voters to consider one of the lesser-known candidates for president in 2008 – Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

While most members of Congress quickly voted to give President Bush the authority to invade Iraq, Dennis did his job. He checked the facts and determined that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction and did not pose an imminent threat to American security. Dennis voted against the war in Iraq and has actively sponsored bills to end it.

Our nation would be in a much different place today if every elected official had done his or her duty and voted against this war from the start. Thousands of American soldiers would be home with their families. Billions of dollars could have been spent bettering the lives of the millions of Americans who do not have access to healthcare. I trust Kucinich, and know that as president he will bring the change America is longing for. I invite you join me at www.kucinich.us.

David W. Anderson

1. I've warmed to Kucinich over the years
I don't think he's got too much of a chance unfortunately - but he's probably the best candidate in the field currently on the issues.

4. Are you kidding...?
Did he even get half a percentage point in the last election? We need a strong leader who will be able to usher us out of this dark time. Duke Cunningham, running alongside Jack Abrahamoff could beat Kucinich with their eyes closed.

14. Ummm...
In the Utah primary, Kerry won with 55 percent, Edwards came in second with 30 percent, followed by Kucinich at 7 percent.

So, Kucinich got a whopping 7% of the 30% of Utahns who are Democrats to support him in the Primary?

Wow.

He has a looooong way to go, I'm afraid.

39. That is incorrect- I was at the Democratic Convention
Kucinich received 50% and that is after they took the Kerry people into a private room to count them.

It was definitely a Kucinich convention- he had all the momentum and support.

You can check the delegates received to confirm this if you would like.

It looks like Kerry and Kucinich split the Alaska delegation when delegate were elected. And in the end delegate numbers are what counts.

24. We need both smart AND strong. Bush wasn't smart...Bush was lucky
We need someone who can inspire. We need someone like FDR, like Kennedy, hell, even like Clinton. We need a candidate that can lead and lead with his heart and brain, knowing and listening to what this country needs. I'm not talking about wants here...people don't know what they truly want, but anyone with their hand on the pulse of America can see what our people need. Our next leader has to listen to that, and put any preconceived agenda in a locked drawer. Call me idealistic, call me insane, but that's my interpretation of what we need.

It's just that I happen to think Dennis Kucinich is inspiring as all hell!

Do you know his history? He is more concerned with the welfare of the people he represents than his own political career. You can't do any better than Kucinich. That's just a fact. We can waffle all day about what Americans will or won't support... but the fact is that this man is the real deal.

Not even with the first unnecessary war leading to a second, and hardly anyone talking about it but him?

Things might start changing very quickly... you might be surprised at how fast people can snap out of their cozy delusions once reality starts slapping them around (climate change, economic uncertainty, implementation of 'war without end', etc.)

40. Kucinich was at the peace rally in D.C. Where were the other candidates?
Dennis Kucinich is right on more issues, with the majority of American people on more issues, and speaks out on more issues than any other candidate. He is consistent over time. No wonder MSM seeks to destroy this pro-peace pro-democracy voice of the people. But they won't be nearly as successful in 08 as 04. The media's influence has been in steady decline from social security privatization onwards.

41. Kucinich flip-flopped on abortion
He used to be solidly anti-abortion and voted with the current regime right up to 2001, and only lately changed his mind, mostly beacause it was politically expediant to do so.

I wonder how many of his supporters here ever looked into his voting record on this matter. He switched right before his presidential bid, and did so knowing that the left wing of the party would never accept a pro-life candidate.

He can trangulate with the best of them.

Not trying to be confrontational, I do like him as a candidate, as he has a lot of good ideas which, at the very least, need to be part of the party platform.

45. Forgot about that one
It's important to remember that these people are politicians, not demi-gods. They have failings.

They will use voters to accomplish an agenda, for good or ill. If popular opinion changes, their voting pattern will also change to reflect the new political reality.

It is still all politics, and no one is perfect.

He was wrong on abortion and he can help them understand why.
You see, in a democracy we are not allowed to let our minority personal religious beliefs affect what is allowed for the majority.
He can show them that sometimes it is okay to change your mind when you are wrong.

46. His voting record reflected his constituency
He represents a solid blue-collar to somewhat upscale suburban, mostly white (many Catholic) district, and voted accordingly.

He changed his voting on abortion after 2001, when he was deciding to run for the nomination. He would still vote pro-life if he never ran for president, IMO.

47. I agree. DK is one of a select few group of politicians that I believe
Edited on Wed Jan-31-07 03:39 PM by Zorra
have a fervent belief in democracy and the importance of conducting themselves with total integrity as servants of the people of the US.

I don't think DK can be corrupted by corporations, and he is not afraid to speak his mind no matter how politically unpopular his opinions and observations might be. He spoke out against the war, and called Bu*h and the administration out as liars before the invasion of Iraq began. I knew damn well that they were lying, and so did DK.

I feel that, by far, DK represents me, and my opinions and beliefs, more than any other public servant that I am aware of.

His modest upbringing, and his subsequent actions, words, good judgment, and accurate foresight as a public servant, lead me to believe that he fully understands what the average American has to go through in order to survive, what we need to do to maintain our liberty and democracy, and what the nation needs in order to go forth safely, productively, sanely, and progressively into the future. All of this is of the utmost importance to me as an individual.

If DK were elected President of the US, I would volunteer some time to help him make the country better, in some area where I could be the most useful, because I think that DK would make a genuine, sincere, focused, effective, and aggressive effort to solve the real problems faced by our nation, and he would not compromise with special interests whose only self-serving intent is to maintain the status quo for it's own profit and power without any regard for the well-being, liberty, and security of the people of the United States

I don't have nearly this kind of trust for any of the other candidates that are running, because I'm a little worried about how much influence the global corporate powers that be have on their decision making.

So I'll be voting for Dennis in the primaries, unless he drops out of the running before that time.
