which means they have decided to bite the bullet on 'maintenance' costs and catch PROBLEMS (serious defects) and nip them in the bud under their maintenance program so the rest of the World doesn't see what is going on. BMW has been doing this for YEARS. And you wonder why you NEVER hear about BMW recalls? They catch the problems and fix them under 'normal' maintenance.

Slimy. And just more denial.

2. or it's an incentive
i know there's no way in hell you can look at anything Toyota does as anything but a malevolent move, but that really says more about you than it does about Toyota.

If you don't like to read my threads, simply click the ignore button, because Toyota will NEVER get a pass from me while I am alive, and if YOU think that's wrong, go tell the families of the dead that they should reconsider Toyota as their next car choice.

Goodbye in advance.

16. I still don't understand you
You're otherwise a rational poster, but you continuously flirt with Toyota despite being a union member, and despite me personally linking you an article detailing Toyota's connections to human trafficking, worker abuse, military dictators, etc. WTH?

17. I've been burnt by shitty 'American' cars
It's actually quite simple for me. Should I buy a car sold by an American company that was built in a foreign country and is full of foreign parts, or should I buy a car sold by a foreign company that may have been made in America? There is really no such thing as an American car anymore. The time to rise to the occasion and support American car makers was back in the last century when I did drive only American cars.

I am also concerned about gas mileage and the impact of burning fossil fuels on the environment. The car with the best mileage I have found in my price range so far is a Toyota.

A friend works for Ford and he told me recently that the best car on the market is a Toyota. He owns one himself. And I know few people who are more dedicated and do more for their union than this man.

I have family members who work for GM and they own Hondas.

This isn't an easy decision. Lots of factors to consider.

18. I cannot convince you to buy anything, but as a lifelong lover of Chevrolet, a long time UAW member
Edited on Mon Apr-19-10 12:29 AM by DainBramaged
and one who has worked for the Japanese and seen first hand how they manipulate markets, you're wrong. Period. Wrong to consider a japanese car. To even consider them after what they do to keep out the UAW and them claim that a Toyota is more American than A Ford, GM or Chrysler product just makes everything you write about everything else here hypocrisy.

I am sorely disappointed in your attitude, sorely disappointed. At least I support AMERICAN products, UNION MADE products, not japanese imported products, including all of the shit they ASSEMBLE here.

Edit

My Cobalt was made in OHIO, part of the US of A, NOT japan.

20. Where were you when my piece of shit Blazer was breaking down on a weekly basis?
Or my husband's Impala? Or the Grand Pris we had to patch back together before that? Why didn't GM keep making cars like our Cavalier we drove through much of the 80s that was one of the best cars we have ever owned?

Like I said, we were burnt. And we are very careful when we buy cars now. 15 years ago we would never have dreamed of buying a foreign car. But GM lost our business. We aren't wealthy enough to make a stand on this because someone on the internet thinks it's the right thing to do.

29. Whatever. Keep supporting the best interests of Foreign nations
pretty soon, America will be a Third World country only providing raw materials and basic services to their Foreign masters. Oh wait, that is what we do now, I forgot, America only wants cheap Foreign crap not American products.

19. A rather disappointing glob of rationalisation.
The decision is actually pretty easy, it's the excusing yourself from making it that's difficult.

My current 'yota is a 2004 with almost 60K miles, and has never had anything but oil changes. Still running great.

9. I've never known a BMW owner who has bragged about their
free maintenance.

As a matter of fact, most BMer owners bitch about the cost of maintenance, hell even replacing brake shoes is mighty costly.

I thought the offer for free maintenance is to get folks to buy their cars, just like the Hyundai folks do.

And now with the header, GMPP stainless exhaust, Jet chip and K&N air filter, I'd say faster than any Honda too.....maybe not certain Mazda's but I haven't come across one yet so........

14. The only thing in that class that will beat that car
Mazdaspeed 3 (I know, but don't ask me how LOL) and that really comes down to the driver
Subie WRX STi
Mitsubishi Evo

And the Subie and the Evo will cost roughly $10k more. You need to tell your management to get back to making that SS. Better yet, bring the Astra back and put the SS drivetrain in it. Build that, and you've got a sale right here.

27. On the way to the store yesterday I got a good laugh
when my wife started to move back into the right lane in front of a TOYota and 'thats a TOYota your fixing to pull in front of are you sure you want to do that, just popped out?' Whoops she said and we both laughed our asses off. TOYota will cease to be a major player in the manufacturing of personal transportation devices. Driving our Ford along the highway, getting to and from where ever we're headed in confidence we'll get there in comfort if we don't get in a wreck. By a runaway TOYota LOL

Its sad that the higher ups think they can let this pass with out any admission of fault and that is why they will cease to be. All I can say to them is they better pull their heads out and quick as time is running out. My neighbor has a toyota that he can't give away now, About 6 months ago he bought his first ford, a ranger and he loves it more with each passing day and now they are looking to buy a focus but they have this dead thing hanging around their necks and no one wants to talk to them about a trade. :hi:

What I say to the TOYota fans is get your asses down there and buy you a real vehicle, a ford or a chevy, not a fucking toy piece of shit.
