Remember THIS the next time a teabagger infuriates you...
When you have a winning strategy, it’s good forever. All you have to do is update it on occasion, and it will keep on working for you. Throughout the ages, tyrants from Caesar to Dick Armey and Karl Rove have relied on the simple strategem of divide et impera as a bedrock method of maintaining control over the masses who would otherwise overpower them.

Today the divisions they have forged between the teabaggers and the progressives is a classic example of the method at work. Both the progressives and teabaggers are very upset at the status quo; both see themselves as victims of great forces over which they have no control, and both are at the edge of open revolt. However, if that open revolt comes, it will consist of ‘baggers and proggies attacking each other. In fact, neither the proggies nor the baggers have the foggiest clue of what is happening to them, or who is manipulating them or how.

The actual manipulators are the extremely wealthy, the invisible Overlords if you will. The politicians, with a few exceptions, are the witting or unwitting tools of the Dark Lords. This fact has become more obvious since the ascension of Obama to power failed to bring about great changes.

The DArk Lords no more want Sarah Palin than they want Dennis Kucinich in power. In fact, I really doubt they much care at this point whether the government is controlled by Repubicans or Democrats, as long as the politicians in question are safely bought.

As long as we permit the divisions to absorb our energy, that energy is unavailable to bring about the real changes that might save us. This dies not mean that we need to accept the Teabag Reality; it does mean that we need to free ourselves from the impact of the divisions by which the overlords neutralize us.

Frankly, I’m not at all sure how to accomplish the changes we need to make. I do believe, though, that it involves a shift of attention. We need to focus on the real sources of our problems, and thos real sources are not the people running around with little fish thingies and American flags stuck all over their decrepit jalopies. As long as we let ourselves be distracted by anger at the ‘baggers, we are doomed to ineffectuality.

1. All politicians are safely bought or they would be gone.

2. Oh, the system can tolerate a few rebels as long as they're ineffectual.
