Hitting the wall......
I seldom start a topic and never ask for help but I have to say that I feel as if I've hit the wall. I hate what this country has become and is becoming and I don't know how to make it better and I don't know how to live with it.

Anybody else ever feel this way? I'm sure you do, but what do you do when you get to the banging your head against a brick wall point?

1. I love my country.
I just can't stand the scene.

Scenes change.

3. Trust me, you're not the only one.
Hang in there and sometimes detach to keep your sanity.

I am pumped up daily. I get two papers (one New Orleans, one Gulfport) and every day they have LTTE's from people who ain't very happy with bush and his policies and the letters are getting ever more strident. Hang in there teammate.

5. I know the change is almost imperceptable...
but I do believe that the pendulum is finally swinging back the other way.

We've hit bottom and are bouncing back. How long till balance is restored? I don't know, but I believe it will be.

Have hope. Have courage.

7. You may need to take a breather...
The job is huge and the successes never seem big enough. But if you look at where we started you can see that we're making progress. It is not unusual to see something other than the strict party-line on TV now. It is clear that the vast majority of the American people are on our side.

8. Yep. Therapy and medication help, but they don't solve the problem.

Someone has to commit to fixing the problem, and who better than you or I, given that waiting for someone else to do it is obviously a waste of time? But who am I to change the world? Who are you? How many of us would it take? And what does that mean, anyway? Don't all the great leaders get shot in the head? I don't want to get shot in the head.

That wall in front of you has the dents of lots of heads.

9. mind-blowing reality...
is the key to gaining any kind of perspective. You will bounce back, and the expansion of your mind will be beneficial to understanding. My first reaction upon hitting that wall is anger...and a kind of how could this be? After time allows comprehension I'm ready to move on to next. I think we forget how often we encounter that wall...each time feeling like a eureka never before experienced.

13. As an old dirtyhippiecommiepinkobum, all I can say is prepare the ground
for the revolution.

In Taos today, I noticed a big sign by the local peace group, for a nonviolent communication seminar. ALL of us can create a better society by becoming prepared in this way, and learn how to spread the ripples of this change outward.

"Let there be peace, and let it begin with me" is more than a slogan. Working on this change locally will help to take the mind off the ugliness that abounds, and you will know that you are, in fact, creating the change you wish to see in the world.

Best to you!

:hi:
