By Paul Hammel WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

LINCOLN -- When Gov. Heineman saw that a "tea party" would be held in Lincoln on Tuesday, the Republican politician asked if he could stop by and shake hands.

So that's what Heineman, who is seeking re-election this year, will be doing for about 15 to 20 minutes Tuesday afternoon en route to a speaking engagement in Sarpy County.

"I respect what they stand for," the governor said, of the conservative, anti-big government movement.

He said that he and Nebraskans share their views on reduced government, low taxes and conservative spending.
