FBI arrests dirtbag for threatening Nancy Pelosi
WASHINGTON – The FBI arrested a northern California man Wednesday for allegedly making threatening phone calls to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over health care reform, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.

Charges against the man have yet to be disclosed, but they are expected to be filed in federal court in California.

Several federal officials said the man made dozens of calls to Pelosi's homes in California and Washington, as well as to her husband's business office. They said he recited her home address and said if she wanted to see it again, she would not support the health care overhaul bill that since has been enacted.

One official said the man is believed to have spoken directly with Pelosi at least once.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

A call to the FBI office in San Francisco was not immediately returned, nor was a call to a spokesman for Pelosi.

On Tuesday, authorities announced charges against a Washington state man who allegedly made threatening calls to Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat. Charges also have been filed against a Philadelphia man who allegedly made a YouTube video threatening Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va.

I support free speech, but the republi-crap / tea bag rhetoric is getting dangerous.

1. On the same day
Also today a man from central Washington State was arrested for making threatening voicemail messages for our Senator Murray. Is it catching? I sure hope not. Unless it's THEM that is being caught -- by law enforcement.

Threats of violence or harm to a person are not protected speech. And I agree, these people are getting dangerous. And they always have been. These are the ideological heirs of the KKK and the Birchers.

16. Lovely
This group was extremely active against those who worked in the civil rights movement in Memphis when I was growing up. My family was targeted in a campaign of 'planned harassment' that even the not so sympathetic local law enforcement agencies acknowledged.

10. "ideological heirs of the KKK and the Birchers. " Exactly, only the Birchers
never had the chutzpah that the Teabaggers seem to. I'd even credit the Birchers with a tiny degree of wisdom in that regard--I think the major difference is...

HATE RADIO.

17. That, no doubt, has a lot to do with it
In years past they were more covert in their activities. Hate Radio has taken it mainstream.

6. About time
The fringe right has been getting away with this garbage for far too long. It happens more often than most people realize at the local level, but law enforcement usually backs down and excuses the threats.

I had a local RW gasbag threaten to run me over a couple of years ago. The police tracked the web posting, but let it go when they realized it was a good old boy who made the thread.

Even better, the detective yelled at me for taking this to the press when he decided not to turn the matter over to the county prosecutor.

The Manchester PD is usually a good bunch of folks who act in a very professional manner, but this detective's actions were as unethical as they get.

15. I wonder if Rush Lip-Balm could be "coached" into making a public threat

It would be a fine day to see his fat ass go to jail.

I had a republican approach me with a clip-board and a hat with the GOP elephant on it. We were at the Civic Center, and he was about to explain why I should sign his petition. After a brief exchange of words, he called me a commie fag and I called him a Republican Bastard. He got really upset and I thought he was going to hit me with his clipboard. He started following me and yelling. I told him to "begone satan!" A couple was watching him get all revved up, and I turned to them and said .... can you believe this asshole?

Well that did it. He threw down his clip board, came running up to me all fuzzied up, and reached into his pocket. I though he was going to pull out a gun. Instead, he whipped out his Cell Phone and took my picture. He continued to follow me and said he was going to call the police, and post my photo on the internet.

He followed for about 500 feet while yelling and taking my picture. He then turned around to go back for his clipboard. I thought he was gone for good. To my dismay, I ran into him half way around the track, he had walked in the opposite direction to meet me by the south parking lot. He kept chanting for me to get into my car so he could see what I drove and get my plate number.

The guy was really creepy.

So, how is your bi-partisan love fest progressing?

7. Confusing the meaning of Free Speech
Freedom to speak a position is one thing, but to incite others to violate behavior isn't free speech, it is instead endangering the safety of others. When speech puts innocent people in danger then it isn't free speech and should not be classified as such.

12. The problem with all of this is the are arresting the wrong people
It's like jailing someone buying an ounce of cocaine. That won't solve the drug problem - you need to track down the source of how it's getting distributed.

YOu have the Glen Becks, Rush Limbaughs, Sean Hannitys, Sarah Palins and many many others out there inciting the violence. But freedom of speech should not including inciting violence.
