Frum on health reform: ‘Repeal is literally impossible’

David Frum told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that Republicans will be unable to repeal the health reform law during President Barack Obama’s first term.

“Repeal is literally impossible. You need the president’s signature which you won’t get or you have to override his signature with two-thirds of both houses and it’s mathematically impossible to win two-thirds of the Senate,” said Frum.

This video is from ABC’s Good Morning America, broadcast March 29, 2010.

CNN poll: 47 percent of Americans want to repeal health care reform.

6. The AG suit isn't going to fly either
Given the section that lets each state opt out of the bill as long as said state can be innovative enough to come up with a minimum level (as defined in the bill) of health coverage for its citizens.

3. well, Mr. Frum would be wrong...
it CAN be repealed...as other things have been in the past. Hell, there were Amendments to the Constitution that have been repealed. It might take time...but if the republicans get back in to a position of power or if the bill turns out to be as bad as some think, it CAN be repealed...

7. I don't think so. It certainly won't be repealed by Republicans getting back
in power - it is too good for the industry, and will continue to be too good a fund-raising tool for the Republicans. The very things that make the bill bad are the reasons why it WON'T be repealed - the enshrining of for-profit healthcare as the foundation of our healthcare system.

4. Pretty lonely for Frum, on the reality-based wing of the Party.
