1. Yeah, but apparently someone spray painted something on the Capitol
Which is in horribly poor taste, and really leaves a horrible impression on the other thousands of good protesters that came out last weekend.

2. Agreed...
it is the equivalent of going on a rampage and destroying your own neighborhood.

I think people forget, or maybe they just don't care, that some of us actually live and work in D.C.

3. FUck a good impression
The slime INSIDE the building have defaced every idea that we fight for. The peeps are angry.

6. No, sorry.
Speak for yourself, but I have far more class than that.

9. It's fine to be angry...
but I'm tired of people coming to D.C. with the mindset of trashing it and otherwise making mischief.

I don't know if the spray-painting happened or didn't happen, but imo, it's not an example of a constructive form of protest.

11. I can understand how you feel
but it is the center of the power we are fighting. If they were is Oshkosh Wiconsin, then the people who live there would have to endure it. :)

13. Disagree..

no one should have to endure people running through the streets knocking heads and smashing up windows as a form of "protest". You're not fighting any "powers" by doing that.

I'm not referring to any recent incident, just giving an example.

14. I think every revolutionary throughout history would disagree
Power perpetuates itself. Blood will always run in the streets as the price for freedom from oppression.

15. Not all revolutions are violent...
nor need they be. In my opinion, you are playing into the "power's" hands by perpetrating violence and destruction.

5. The Hill certainly hasn't retracted
And there's another column about it in today's edition. I don't think this is debunked. But, I'm going to the Capitol tomorrow, so I'll see for myself.

12. I just read that update
and it appears that something was painted on the sidewalk (in front of the steps but not on the steps themselves) by what appears to be a group of "anarchists" that clashed with the police AFTER the march ended.

I stand corrected that it didn't happen at all but I still don't think one incident, but a group whose purpose is anarchy, paints the whole thing in a bad light.

In the grand scheme of things, it's small potatos and will fall off the radar soon enough.

They removed it quickly enough. Seems they have forgotten just how bad it got in the 60's. This is nothing.

8. Who? Where? I've seen nothing
And I'm guessing that neither have you. If you have pictures of the Capitol being spray painted, I'd really like to see them. But under this horribly mendacious administration, I don't believe anything they say against me or my ideological soul mates. If somebody spray painted the Capitol, there would be pictures in this day and age.

I don't believe it for a second.

10. I agree with you
there would be several sources of pics - both from the feds/cops and from fellow protesters. This to me looks like it is something to make the "anarchists" look bad.

17. Anyone old enough to know what COINTELPRO stands for
Anyone old enough to know what COINTELPRO stands for knows all the hallmarks of a planted story designed to discredit the opponents of the powers that be, and this story just reeks of that sort of duplicity. It's lost very little of its effectiveness, however, in that these plants still deceive many an otherwise canny person.
