Murtha says impeachment IS on the table
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Murtha_revises_Impeachment_on_table_0430.html

Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) revised the much publicized statements he made yesterday and told National Public Radio that impeaching President George W. Bush was 'on the table' late on Monday afternoon.

"I'm just saying that's one of the options that Congress has on the table, I'm getting more and more calls from people about the President on impeachment," the long-time Congressman, who is a veteran of the US Marines, told NPR's Melissa Block on the program 'All Things Considered' Monday afternoon.

Murtha's remark was at variance with Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who has insisted since last year prior to the Congressional election that returned a Democratic majority in the House that impeachment was 'off the table.'

The Congressman's explanation came after he repeated his statement made on CBS News' Face the Nation yesterday that impeachment was one of four options that can be used to hold a President accountable, in addition to elections, polls, and the Congress's control of the executive branch's budgets. In yesterday's appearance, he refused to say whether impeachment was being contemplated, stating only that it was an option.-snip-

Maybe we could glue handcuffs on bush and cheney. Or maybe glue their forked tongues back together. Maybe then they'll be able to explain themselves better.

42. Wow, does this EVER give me an idea for a group craft project!
There was a famous one in the 1970s with a feminist theme, coordinated by Judy Chicago. It was called "The Dinner Party." I don't recall how many place settings there were, but each one was for a different famous woman, custom-designed and embroidered to evoke that individual.

I'm not sure how you'd coordinate an "Impeachment Dinner Party" but if anyone does...definitely count me in!!!

47. We could prepare "appropriate" table settings for each of those

delightful individuals we'd like to see in the stockade.

alberto gonzales's place would be set with flatware wired to some sort of power source - shocking! Maybe the charger itself would be electified! Napkin would be a black hood. Handcuffs for the napkin ring. And he could be seated on a nice wooden box.

contradicta would drink out of a pair of Ferragamos. Her placemat would be a subpoena.

bush would get Pinocchio dinnerware, seated at the head of the kiddie table - on a rocking horse to commemorate the plastic, phony "cowboy" he is.

cheney's place would be where the heat is - signifying where he's headed after he dies. Served on that nice big padded parka he wore to the Auschwitz observance where he looked like a lost snow plow operator amidst a lot of very dignified, appropriately suited VIPs. He'd be eating with pitchforks instead of tableware. His beverage would be soapy water - to wash out his foul mouth.

They'd all be served blood pudding, dried snake, and forked tongue, with pretzels for appetizers, and alphabet soup (to signify the mangling of the English language by Pinocchio over there at the kiddie table), cheap booze, and lots of water - brought to the table on boards.

tenet would be seated over in the (slam) dunk tank. Alone.

All tablecloths would be a nice bright cheery prison orange. The centerpiece at all tables would be a lovely and no doubt fragrant arrangement of turd blossoms.

Their invitations would be decorated with pictures of peaches and mint leaves.

His district is in a pretty conservative part of PA, isn't it? If his constituents are saying impeach, it's getting to be about time to set the table.

19. Truly. That's VERY significant. Remember, he's kind of conservative
himself. If he's talking about it, it means he's getting a lot of pressure about it. He's hearing the roar.

Guys - WE HAVE COME SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It used to be that this wasn't even to be discussed. One dared not mention it in polite company (except places like this). It was dead on arrival. COMPLETELY taboo. It wasn't just off the table, it wasn't even near the dining room. THINGS HAVE CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY!!!

Remember that next time you feel a whiff of discouragement trying to overtake you. We've got some distance yet to cover, but WE HAVE COME SO FAR!!!! SO INCREDIBLY FAR!!!!!!!

awkward for her to run on impeachment since that would have given her the White House. The Pugs would have made mincemeat of that stance before 06 election.

40. I also suspect that she supports this
I don't believe for a moment that he would have brought it up without Pelosi condoning it. If Pelosi were to be the one to start the discussion, the MSM would turn this around to being all about her. It is a lot safer (politically) for Murtha to broach the subject of impeachment.

However the posters seem to feel this option is back on the table when in fact it is NOT . The artical read an option on the table , so what table are they refering to ?

"Murtha later noted that he didn't think impeachment was appropriate at this time. But he also added, "It's just one of the things we always consider, it's a part of the process."

"Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) revised the much publicized statements he made yesterday and told National Public Radio late on Monday afternoon that impeaching President George W. Bush was "on the table."
