Haiti Housing Still Elusive
2 months after Haiti quake, housing still elusive

By BEN FOX and JONATHAN M. KATZ, Associated Press Writers Ben Fox And Jonathan M. Katz, Associated Press Writers – Fri Mar 12, 10:56 pm ET
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Trash and sewage are piling up at the squalid tent camps that hundreds of thousands have called home since Haiti's devastating earthquake — and with torrential rains expected any day, authorities are not even close to providing the shelters they promised.

Two months since the Jan. 12 quake, the government has yet to relocate a single person, despite a pledge that people would be moving into resettlement areas by early February.

Aid groups say they're ready to build but don't have the land. Government officials insist they are making progress on finding sites in closed-door negotiations with private landowners.

So, a question - is the Haitian government really doing everything it can to help its citizens, or are they needing more help from someone else, or what? Is this as fast as things can really work?

2. I hope not.
But I think we need to be finding out what it is they really need. It sounds like they have money, but they can't get things moving for some reason. I was hoping someone had some better info.

3. this is proof that the government is run by total Psychopaths.. one reason is the President has
declared the Disaster Emergency over, and has invoked an import tax on all disaster related materials.. food, fuel, medicine, tents, building materials.. it is obvious that he is just using this as an excuse to loot at the expense of the victims.. many will die as a result because people are not inclined to play that game.. increased suffering, people dying, dead babies ='s Psychopath that doesn't give a shit for the suffering and death they cause and take advantage of for profit.

where is a Hatian neck tie when you need one.?

5. Mexico is in about the same situation... that is why about 10% of their population migrated here,
mexico exported their poor up here to maintain their standard of living for the "Have It Alls", that enjoy a standard of living second only to France.

it is getting as bad here..

the bottom 80% americans hold only 7% of the nations wealth, what is happening now is that the Health Care corporations and the Petroleum Corporations are fighting over what scraps are left for us..!!

the L curve... caution "L" Curve Ahead.!!
