L.A. woman held for throwing puppy into traffic
Friday, February 26, 2010

(02-26) 09:53 PST Hawthorne, Calif. (AP) --

Hawthorne police arrested a woman they say killed a puppy by throwing it into traffic — apparently because she was angry at her boyfriend.

Danielle Graham was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of animal cruelty and assaulting a peace officer.

Capt. Mike Ishii says officers in the Los Angeles suburb saw a woman drag the dog out of a building by a chain and hurl it into the street. Her boyfriend's mother says the 3-month-old pit bull, named Gucci, landed on a moving car and then rolled under it.

Ishii says officers who tried to arrest Graham had to use pepper spray as they struggled with her and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Hakeem Funtuna of Inglewood. Funtuna was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer.

1. Wait...she kills his puppy and he tried to defend her from the cops?
They're both idiots.

Jesus, throw my pup into traffic and you're likely going in after him/her.

5. Sounds like an episode of Cops
In of those domestic cases where someone is getting hauled to jail for domestic violence and the person who just got beat up is trying to stop the cops from arresting the person.

Humanity's capacity for doing stupid shit doesn't surprise me anymore.

9. I don't see from the article that he was trying to defend her. Maybe the cops
were trying to pull him off of her. I don't know either way, just sayin'. If someone threw my pup into traffic I would have to be restrained from doing the same to them.

Man gets 3 years for throwing dog in traffic
July 13, 2001 Posted: 4:01 PM EDT (2001 GMT)

Applause broke out in the court as Burnett was sentenced to the maximum sentence

SAN JOSE, California (CNN) -- Courtroom observers erupted in applause Friday as a judge sentenced a man to three years in prison for tossing a woman's small dog into oncoming traffic in a bout of road rage last year.

Not "you", specifically of course, but I don't understand why people like to torture animals to get at someone they're angry with.

12. In our southern states, they heartstick and gas puppies
Over and over, and over, every single day. One example is Anderson County, SC, which kills 100 puppies a day, because no one spays and neuters, and the good folks down there bring their boxes of puppies in to the high kill shelters every single day. They are then brought into the back, and euthanized, whole boxes of them.

And cats...they stand no chance at all.

This woman needs to be tracked for the rest of her life. It should be illegal for anyone to sell or give an animal to her.

39. Thanks....and I never said I agree with animal cruelty...
or how some people use them to get vengeance or for the simple fact of getting back at someone they are mad at.....I simply wanted to emphasize that these stories are given to much attention and not enough is being done for those who represent our future....

for the pets I have which I "saved" from certain death (from the shelter) and for those on the streets who are there because of irresponsible owners BUT I feel too much attention is given to all sorts of pets/animals than that of all these children. Think of this...who are the future of this country and shouldn't we take care of those first? I don't think my pets are the future, but my kids are. I've met so many people that care more about what their pets are wearing than their kids :-(

The woman, identified as Danielle Graham, 21 of Los Angeles was angry because her boyfriend told her to stay behind with the dog while he went to pick up his 12 year old sisters from school, according to Hawthorne police.
