what a bunch of fuddy duddies we are
Scotty Lago evidently offends the delicate sensibilities of many DUers. As does Bode Miller. Snow boarding shouldn't even be in the Olympics according to quite a few and the disdain for them is reflected in comment after comment

Who would have thought DU had such a prim and proper streak?

scotty lago won the bronze in the half pipe
and was photographed with a young woman kneeling and kissing his medal which was at crotch level. They kicked him out of Vancouver for it. Bode Miller is an alpine skier who was expected to win multiple medals in Turin four years ago. Instead he partied and crashed and burned. Now he's pissing off the puritans by winning.

15. don't know what a half pipe is either. but the kissing thing sounds a trifle tacky, or ill-timed,
if nothing else. can imagine what it looked like, though.

20. could be interpreted that way
or maybe she was kneeling down to look at his tattoo? Maybe he was just lifting his shirt all the way up to show off his abs, ala Jersey Shore, but either way the real atrocity is that hideous tattoo, IMHO. Maybe if the revered medal wasn't involved it wouldn't be such a big deal, hard to say.

Not that I am offended either way, I can understand getting caught up in the excitement, and it's really far down on the racy scale. If it was someone from a different sport maybe the reaction would've been different, I don't know, but maybe they want to show that they welcome the increased audience snowboarding brings, but not the realness. Maybe the uncensored language just before Shaun White's victory run irked them and they want make a point that they don't want anything really embarrassing to happen.

If they are so worried about offending people maybe they should think about a different network to host the Olympics in the future that isn't so greedy and controlling.

4. Don't have an idea who Lago is
and don't care about Miller. He's all right. He just needed to grow up a bit it seems. And as far as "sports" that shouldn't be in the Olympics, get rid od ice dancing. What the hell is that? It ain't sport, that's for sure.

27. I think DU is starting to show a major generation gap lately.
If it's not snowboarding, it's having a good time at a medal winning party. If its not that, it's "standing up when a woman enters the room" or not.

Seriously, it's getting a little creepy. And I'm 50!

The funniest threads here are those asserting that America is not a basically conservative place.

America? Hell, even DU is a basically conservative place.
