BecKKK and Limbaugh had long radio careers previous to their right wing talk existence, so it's entirely possible that they may have developed "characters" for their current gig just as Mush called himself "Jeff Christie" when he was a music DJ, and Glenn was part of some "morning zoo" show in Arizona (I think)

more or less true believers in the 'conservative cause' (which means different things to different people). Some have probably changed their views on certain things over the years, which is common among all stripes of people. A fair amount of them probably don't particularly like the most fundamentalist religious voices on their side, but keep quiet for the sake of unity/influence etc. If I had to pick one as the least convincing conservative, it would be Glenn Beck. Though he's probably genuinely right of center on many things, he seems less interested in politics than most of the rest of them.

he's also very very smart. coulter is pretty smart. the rest aren't that bright, although limbaugh is kind of intuitive smart.
