BREAKING: U.S. to launch investigation of Toyota Corolla steering problems
Just hit CNN.com homepage as Breaking News

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The U.S. will open an investigation Thursday to probe possible steering issues on about 500,000 Toyota Corollas.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration official about 363,000 Corollas from model year 2009 and 136,000 from 2010 could be affected.

The NHTSA will formally announce the probe Thursday, the official said. Calls to Toyota were not immediately returned.

It's the latest in a spate of recent problems for Toyota (TM), which has recalled more than 8.1 million vehicles worldwide for issues including unresponsive brake pedals.

2. If you've read some of the comments

in the recent Toyota threads, you would see that some people are shockingly loyal to Toyota. I guess some people can't stand seeing their opinions challenged with information/facts.

5. That wasn't Firestone's fault. It was Ford's.
The Exploder ran too rough with Firestone's recommended psi. Ford lowered the psi recommendation for a more comfortable ride instead of changing the design of the chassis.

Ford had a bigger mouth in the media, blaming Firestone first, then Firestone was threatened with no tire orders from Ford at all if they didn't play ball.

4. I got a friend who just bought a new one last year. It's her second Corolla
She's already got the accelerator fixed. She says of this new issue... "I'm just ready to take it back to Stephenson's (dealer), and say give me a Sentra instead!"
