1. Pittsburgh hasn't dug out from "Snowmageddon I" a week later...

and there's no thaw in sight....

Because a snowstorm hit where the media resides, the rest of the country who regularly goes through this over and over throughout the season have to put up with this. :rant:

4. I thought it was because a colossal snowstorm hit where nobody has snowplows.

Or very few snowplows. When you get 2 feet of snow in a city equipped for an inch or two, it's a Big Deal.

....if a storm the size of the ones that hit DC were to hit Wyoming....why dozens of people might be inconvenienced.

Wyoming is a bit smaller (whoops....maybe not smaller ..on edit) and less crowded than the DC area....just saying.

If you live where you could get stranded in the snow. Heck we even had a man that spent the night in his car stranded within city of Pittsburgh and had to be rescued next day by NG in Humvee.

Search for stranded Frederick motorists continues
Here's an update from about 12:15 p.m. from reporter Michael Rosenwald in Frederick County: Northbound Route 15 is closed at Willow Road, with about 50 cars and trucks waiting to get on the highway. The search for the stranded motorists is continuing. A fire official said about 12 people still are stuck north of that point. (It was unclear how many people still might be stranded south of there). Rescue crews have been at it since last night and heavy equipment is being used to free some people. One motorist rescued early Thursday had just two gallons of gas left after spending all night in his car.

Original Post: Rescue teams are trying to reach at least 20 stranded motorists in Frederick, including children, who have been in disabled vehicles since Wednesday. State and local officials say there are 39 disabled vehicles holding at least 20 people, hemmed in by snowdrifts and unplowed roads throughout Frederick County. The vehicles are at scattered sites from just north of Montgomery County to the farthest northern points of Frederick County.

Emergency rescue teams have been in cellphone contact with vehicle occupants who called for help. The occupants have said they are fine so far and are waiting to be pulled from snowbanks and off the sides of roadways, said Tom Owens, director of Fire and Rescue Services for Frederick County. National Guard troops and a Maryland State Police helicopter are aiding local crews in the searches, Owens said.

The vehicles are at scattered locations, including isolated rural roads, which complicates the search, Owens said. In some instances, crews are having to walk more than a quarter of a mile through 3-foot drifts to reach cars, Owens said.
