63. Yes, the debate format
Everybody was "out-of-time" before they got two sentences out of their mouths. Allowing for the tendency of all politicians to be verbose, this format did not allow for any substantial answers. Calling it a "debate" is absurd.

on the moral leader question. He paused for too long then SHRUGGED when he finally put a half-hearted sentence about his Lord. Also think he's continuining in the war mongering direction. I know a strong leader can't take any options off the table but his rhetoric is too warmongerish. War should always be the last option.

Not that I necessarily disagreed with anything he said, but he came off way too aggressively, not only stepping on the toes of the establishment far lefty (Kucinich), but not so subtly calling most of the rest of the field mentally ill. He was entertaining, but I don't think he won any hearts or minds, which is what happens a lot with fringe candidates.

We saw a party with a lot of enthusiasm and solutions to problems...not sound bites and wedge issues.

There were no losers as far as the Democrats are concerned tonight. Many got their first introduction to the candidates tonight and we saw a party that is a lot stronger and self confident than I've seen in decades.

We're sure not gonna see anywhere near the discussion of issues that really matter at the GOOP slugfest they'll have next week.

He was AWFUL.

As I said in another thread, Richardson was the big loser, IMO. He talked around the Gonzales support, saying he wanted to hear his testimony first... but then why had he brought up the "he's Hispanic, I'm Hispanic" factor? "Guns are important in the Wild West, and I'm from the Wild West" -- pfffttt! He was sweating. He was squirming like he had to pee. He ignored the red light & moderator cues to stop talking and so cut into everyone's time overall. He ended up ignoring the questions to say whatever he wanted, which I think started the general free-for-all at the end. I did not like him at all.
