Woman, triplets found dead at home


SHELTON, Conn., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- A woman was found dead in her Shelton, Conn., residence after apparently giving birth to triplets, who also died, police said.

Shelton Police Detective Ben Trabka said police and emergency services personnel were called to the home Tuesday after the woman's mother found her daughter and granddaughters dead, the New Haven (Conn.) Register reported Wednesday.

"We had a mother who appeared to try to deliver her own children at home," Trabka said.

The infants appeared to be full term, Trabka said. There was no evidence of foul play, but an autopsy would be performed, he said.

Police said the victim apparently tried to conceal her condition as the family was unaware the woman was pregnant.

While it does not say she was alone it is implied imho.

only question I have is why she was alone at the time. Pretty damn hard to conceal carrying triplets.

In fact, it might not only be not visible, but she might gain virtually no weight at all, as nutrients are simply diverted to the fetus. I've heard of cases where the woman herself didn't know she was pregnant.

EDIT: But I admit I've never heard of it with multiple births.

4. Did she have insurance? Wonder if that played any part in her decision to forego health care.

I know there are free clinics for pregnant women who can't afford pre-natal care but if she's in a wealthier part of Connecticut and isn't used to seeking social services, she may not have even known they were available.

That poor woman and those babies.... I can't even imagine how terrible that all must have been.

That is some pretty skilled hiding. I suspect she didn't have health insurance. What a very sad story.
