Deutch Wins Dem Primary In Florida 19, Will Be Next Congressman
9:20 pm

February 2, 2010

State Sen. Ted Deutch has won the Democratic primary for the congressional seat vacated by Robert Wexler (D), and is all but assured of becoming the next congressman from Florida's 19th Congressional District.

Deutch, with the backing of Wexler and a campaign appearance by former President Bill Clinton, easily defeated ex-Broward County Commissioner Ben Graber for the Democratic nomination, tantamount to victory in this overwhelmingly Democratic district. He will face a still-to-be-determined Republican in the April 13 general election. GOP candidates in the primary: Joe Budd, Ed Lynch and Curt Price.
