I'm pretty much cynical about this year's crop. The candidates I would like probably wouldn't have a shot, anyway.

I mean, I pretty much know where they all stand on various issues to begin with.

Of course, the Republicans suck way worse, but they have the media machine behind them.

involving multiple candidates.

So you can bet there are some jealous members of Rudy Giuliani's clique expressing their sour grapes at the Dem over-abundance of strong attractive candidates. All they have is old men.

Guess not all DUers are as excited as I am. I was at the MoveOn Town Hall and found myself rooting for all the Dems for that event, as I will tonight. It's about winning in 2008, whether my favorite does well or not

Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 04:59 PM by patrice
I have often found myself thinking it would be nice to be able to combine the things I like best about each, but because of that MoveOn TH I'm rooting for Bill Richardson, because his plan to get us out of Iraq addresses the fullest spectrum of the Occupaiton issues and is most aggressive overall: All troops home tomorrow. No residual forces. No permanent bases. Leaders of the Iraqi factions to be placed in a diplomatic "quarantine" to hammer out a completely new government entirely by themselves. A larger concurrent diplomatic effort including ALL of the countries in the region to address everyone's national security issues and, hence, as a by product, our issues with their relationships to al Qaeda and other terrorists. Congress not to rely only on cutting off funds to end Bush's Occupation of Iraq, but also to begin immediately to work on legislation that revokes permission granted to Herr Bullshitler in the IWR and to follow that new legislation all of the way to the Supreme Court if necessary in order to address Constitutional issues arising out of the "Unitary Executive".

But anyhow, tonight I hope to get concrete details on important issues other than Bush's Occupation of Iraq.

21. Yes!
Got snacks, wine, comfy pillows on couch, dvr set, too, plenty of candles and wood ready in the fireplace, reminded everyone I know to watch it, and now I'm watching the pre-debate festivities. Lovin' the SCU drum team and marching band. Doing Spongebob dance: "I'm ready! I'm ready!"

40. I'd rather be torn apart by feral pigs...
What's called a debate these days is just a platform to display the long version of their 30 second TV ads. There's no back and forth, no zeroing in on key points where basic differences exist. For example, all the Dems are talking about "universal" health care. All but Kucinich -- who advocates single-payer with no involvement of the insurance industry -- talk about some form of extending insurance coverage to those currently without. This is utter nonsense because any health care plan that includes for-profit insurers and hospitals -- which are by far the most destructive elements in the current mess -- will most likely fail because it incorporates the seeds of its own destruction. I'd like to see that issue discussed in depth. Unfortunately, these charades are designed to replace in depth discussions with live campaign ads.

Also, I won't watch any "debate" until the candidates are forced to wear the corporate logos of their top 20 campaign contributors. Then they wouldn't actually have to say anything, since they'd be wearing their hearts on their sleeves, so to speak.
