ARGENTINA: Torture Priest Still Celebrating Mass - Behind Bars

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 1, 2010 (IPS) - More than two years after he was sentenced to life in prison for crimes against humanity committed during the 1976-1983 dictatorship in Argentina, former police chaplain Christian von Wernich has not been penalised by the Catholic Church.

IPS found out that the 71-year-old priest even celebrates mass in prison.

Von Wernich was sentenced on Oct. 9, 2007 by a court in the city of La Plata, 57 km southeast of Buenos Aires, as an accomplice in the murders of seven members of the Peronist guerrilla organisation Montoneros, which was active in the 1970s, 31 cases of torture, and 42 cases of deprivation of freedom during Argentina's dirty war.

According to human rights groups, 30,000 people fell victim to forced disappearance during the military dictatorship.

The Cámara de Casación, Argentina's highest criminal appeals court, upheld von Wernich's sentence in 2009.

As chaplain for the notorious Buenos Aires provincial police, von Wernich held the rank of inspector and frequently visited the regime’s secret torture camps, encouraging political prisoners to provide information in order to avoid being tortured.

2. Pope John Paul 1st was murdered

I once gave money to the church. i thought it was rum true. The so-called gulf war in 1990, after Saddam occupied Kuwait; less then a year after kuwait reflagged its tankers under the US flag- to stop the Iranians mining the 'straits of hormutz' or whatever- it defied common sense that Saddam would attack a US protectorate; and the evil of the murder of Iraqi army said Saddam was some kind of western operator, and meanwhile the church played ignorant.The Iraq/Iranian war, which Saddam started in 1980, and which was unwinnable since Iran is twice the size of Iraq, did not make sense, unless mr pig was angling for the BIG ONE, as Mike Moore calls the US economy. Saddam's Iraq, see, was both a US and a Soviet Union client state (US supported Iraq in the bloody war with Iran, where over a million lives were lost) so invading kuwait was suicide for Iraq, for no reason! To be succinct- the story as told by mr pig media was plain nonsensical. And JP 2nd, turned out, was a reactionary goofball compared to John Paul- he was always pushing back against the poor classes, esp. politically, especially in US dominated South America. The church under jp2 was too happy with regan, who was even further reactionary then nixon was, it seemed, and it was only 6 years since nixon was impeached, so ...end of debate! A few years ago, i picked up David Yallop book about JohnPaul 1st 'In Gods Name' and i marvelled that i had not known that mr pig could not allow an honest pope, and the murder so fit the record, filled in the holes. The pig media aided and abetted my ignorance for years. How IN HELL could a POPE get murdered in the crime ridden 'Banco Ambrosia' era, with god's banker found hanging under Londons Blackfriar bridge, and I NEVER EVEN heard about the deceit and viciousness taking place as John Paul was trying to get the church divorced from the mafia and the SS and the cia/kgb/fbi and grey wolves etc? The church has always been a threat to fascism, to evil, so fascism has to control it.
God, btw, hates fascism even more then communism (Jesus said it's better to give then receive, and communism sure requires sacrifice by its adherents, unlike mr pig's greed is good sustem)
