WHAT THE HELL ELSE SHOULD I DO? Why aren't all of CORPORATE AMERICA "TURNING OFF LIGHTS" (like under Carter) that BURN ALL NIGHT and REQUIRING ALL INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE of (Doctors/Dentists/Lawyers) and the REST of WALL MART AMERICA to COMPLY with GREENING?

Why should "I and my Family, Friends, Relatives" ...GO GREEN when the BIG MEGAPOWERS are NOT COMPLYING OR FIGHTING this?

Why should us "Little Folks" end up "paying penalty" when the MAJOR POLLUTERS ...GET OFF FREE?

Shouldn't WE ALL BE DOING THIS "GREEN PROGRAM?"

1. You get a gold star sticker from me *hugs*
I wish I could do as much as you, hon, but the best we could do when getting rid of the SUV was to replace it with a Subaru.

2. Keep your tires properly inflated
That is one of the biggest energy-wasting mistakes people make.

4. You are awesome!
Use cloth grocery bags, if it is practical for you. I just recycled some heavy fabric (old drapery fabric -- I bet Pickles wanted them!) into bags for myself.

A hybrid is my next car purchase. Done the bulbs.

10. doing that...and those old "LL Bean Bags" I had in my Garage from Carter Times
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 06:58 PM by KoKo01
that we hauled "Beach Stuff" and "Moving Stuff" and "Cat Stuff" have come in handy. They go through washer and dryer and have been with us from the 80's.

Now they load our groceries. (Even though those "plastic baggies" are FORCED ON US...and I get weird looks because I don't have "earring in nose or navel" and look like a "preppy" oldie...I fished out my "LL Bean Bags" and went AT THEM at "Whole Foods and Earth Fare and Fresh Market).
Not all folks are "Hippies who are buying" these days. Just wanted to let them know that. :D

TRY TO FIND CLOTH BAG ..."MADE IN AMERICA" today..........You won't find it.

5. Are you suggesting that we eliminate night time jobs?
Because if you are, I have to disagree with you. There are a number of people who, not always by choice, work night shift jobs. There are also businesses which need to stay open 24/7, including the one I work for, or face some huge operational problems, which are more costly in the long run. That being said, you certainly are doing your part and I thank you. I have switched to the energy replacement bulbs and do much less driving than I used to. So others are trying as well.

7. KoKo...if you can find the Sundance Channel programs on going green, check them out
We saw two shows last night (Big Ideas for a Small Planet I think) on sustainable living...cradle to cradle philosophy...waste = food strategies. Really, really informative and hopeful and brilliant. There are nascient strategies out there that will become mainstream soon as the need to recycle, reduce waste, and be more efficient becomes obvious to more people. We are headed for disaster otherwise. We may be headed for disaster in any case, but it was good to hear about what some people are thinking.

There are many large companies doing good things...in US and Europe and China. Ford Motor Company, for one...Herman Miller another.

One show was on green architecture, the other on waste=food in product and materials design. So fascinating that one of my daughters is on fire now to be a green architect.

9. What about insulation?
;) Wouldn't it be great if building codes mandated green construction? And if retrofitting would be rewarded with tax write offs?

Government buildings should be doing what you have as a matter of course. but doing all this would be admitting that there might be a problem, with energy use and ...gasp...global warming. And, as we know, Republicans cannot handle the truth.
