Coakley=Canary in the Coal Mine
The one silver lining is that the Dems have time before November to hold seats in Congress.

Last time this happened, the moment when Democrats finally got the swift kick in the ass they desperately needed, it was in November of '94, and there, it was too late - they lost Congress, Newt & co. began their Contract on America, and we were duly fucked.

At least this time, the swift kick in the ass only cost us one Senate seat, we still have solid majorities in both houses of Congress (yes, 58+Lieberman still is a majority, just not a filibuster-proof majority - we just have to learn better tactics for dealing w/ the filibuster, say shaming Mitch McConnell every time he does it,) and if our elected Democrats get their shit together, there's still time to get some things done and stop the teabaggers.

3. What should our "leaders" do for 2010 election? Also,
I think now is the time for DU to create a 2010 Forum.

4. If our party's "fearless leaders" were interested in their own political survival,

they'd better find a way to make a health care bill happen, and they'd better open up a can of whoop-ass on Wall Street.

The cold-comfort I have is that the Choakley fiasco may be one of the few things that would whoop Pres. Obama and the other Democrats in Congress upside the head with a Clue-By-Four hard enough to make them realize they need to get their shit together.

Let's hope so.
