Problems with iPhone after upgrade to 3.1.2 software?
So I synced my iPhone on Sunday or Monday for the first time in a few weeks. Now nothing works escpecially making/receiving phone calls. My iPhone is constantly asking me if I want to shutdown and the whole thing runs like molasses. Went to the AT&T store and they said their seeing it a lot on 3G phones that have made the upgrade, but not on 3GS. They couldn't do anything and said I'd have to go to the Apple store. Of course my phone is just a little over a year old. Anybody else facing this nightmare?

4. I just updated last night on my 3G. No problems. Did you do a backup?
Plug it back in and use the Restore function.

6. I probably did not.....
I don't remember when the last time I did a backup. The worst part of the whole thing was that after it screwed up my phone, I tried to sync again and it removed half of my contacts. They seem to be gone forever.

10. I doubt that the mac geniuses at the Apple store can restore your contacts.
Your head unit, whichever computer you use to sync, should have as many of your contacts as you want.

I'd try syncing it again and specifically and separately syncing contacts, music, etc.

12. Already tried that...
Never saw it sync like this. My guess is that the OS got corrupted when it was upgraded to 3.1.2. The contacts may be on my laptop, but this phone doesn't seem to be receptive to them.

16. The Apple Store replaced my older iPhone AFTER warrantee. Twice.
Maybe you're due a replacement.

The first time was because it was overheating.

The second time was because some of the letters on the keyboard stopped working.

Replaced it with same model, after warrantee, no problem.

7. Yes - I've been having intermittent problems with speed and
general "bugginess" since I went to 3.1.2. I was thinking it had more to do with the AT&T network, and their lack of network upgrades to keep up with new users. I still love the product - I've been attributing the problems more to the service provider.

9. Unfortunately....

That doesn't seem to be the case. Its even affecting my app use which doesn't uplink to the network so it's definitely a software issue. I was lucky enough for it to start acting up in the ATT store. Sometimes it will be fine for a while. I'm curious what the Apple store is going to say.

8. I've noticed mine drops carrier a lot...
especially if it's been without signal for a while. I have to switch into and out of airplane mode to get it to reconnect.

Rogers network up here in Canada.

11. None here. 3.1.2 has been out for weeks. And why post this in GD?
Apple has it's own support forums, y'know.

18. My husband and son just got 3GS iPhones last month
There have been absolutely no problems of any sort thus far ... either with functioning or with reception.
You should check out the coverage in your area first, however.
