My Thoughts on Lindsey Graham and Health Care
This morning I saw Lindsey Graham on the Today Show discussing the effort to get health care reform passed. During the interview Graham talked about why he was against the current health care plan. Graham’s reasons included the fact that he did not want a socialist system in the United States of America and the why the Democrats went about in getting the legislation done. If Lindsey Graham is so against this country turning into a socialist country by having a socialist health care system I suggest he give up his congressional health care and encourage his Republican colleagues to do the same. Graham should also push his colleagues to pay for more of their health care costs. The American people are paying a large amount of money to provide health care for the members of Congress. Finally, Graham should push for members of congress who lose their seats before having been in office for 18-20 years to lose their taxpayer funded health care. Currently, once someone gets elected to Congress they get to keep their health care even if they get voted out of office after one term.

In addition, it should be pointed out by people in the media that Graham is complaining about tactics that were used by the Republican party throughout the presidency George W. Bush. I have read book about politics during the Bush Administration. During the Bush Administration the Republican party held secret meeting to draft bill. When Democrats were able to find out where these meeting were occurring the Republican Party tried to keep them out of the meetings. If anyone wants to read about the actions of the Republican Party during the Bush Administration read the book Broken Government and Broken Branch.

I am not trying to say that the Democrats have a right to use the tactics they used because the Republicans used them during the Bush Administration. What I am saying is that Graham and some other Republicans are being hypocritical about this issue. It seems that Graham did not have a problem with these tactics when they were being used by the Republican Party. The Democrats should not be using those tactics, but Graham and the Republican Party should not be selective in their criticism of those tactics.

1. Bottom Line
My bottom line is this; If a person buys insurance under the
new bill they should not be made bankrupt by a catastrophic
health event. I'm talking about the average middle class
person with a house, some savings, and perhaps a working
spouse.

If they lose their house, the bill has failed.
