Gore campaign team assembles in secret
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/22/wgore22.xml

Friends of Al Gore have secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House. Two members of Mr Gore's staff from his unsuccessful attempt in 2000 say they have been approached to see if they would be available to work with him again.

Mr Gore, President Bill Clinton's deputy, has said he wants to concentrate on publicising the need to combat climate change, a case made in his film, An Inconvenient Truth, which won him an Oscar this year. But, aware that he may step into the wide open race for the White House, former strategists are sounding out a shadow team that could run his campaign at short notice. In approaching former campaign staff, including political strategists and communications officials, they are making clear they are not acting on formal instructions from Mr Gore, 59, but have not been asked to stop.

His denials of interest in the presidency have been couched in terms of "no plans" or "no intention" - politically ambiguous language that does not rule out a run. One of his former campaign team said: "I was asked whether I would be available towards the end of the year if I am needed. They know he has not ruled out running and if he decides to jump in, he will have to move very fast. "He hasn't asked them to do this, but nor has he told them not to."

4. If Al Gore does run:
i hope Obama could consider going back on his You dont go for second thing he said on letterman. Because a Gore/Obama ticket sounds extremely appealing to me.

5. On Nashville local news tonight, Gore was leaving a speaking event
when someone yelled out, "Run, Gore, run!" Gore grunted & scowled. He did not look like someone who was interested in the proposition. He almost had disdain in his expression.

7. Please, please let this be so.
On top of everything else, electing Al Gore would have a magnificent symbolic value to the worl of our country repudiating the abomination of the last 8 years.

8. this MAY be bs...
...but, if he were considering a run, stories like this circulating would be something that would happen. I think Gore may seriously be torn. He IS very dedicated to the global warming battle. However, once someone has run for president, especially under the circumstances of having the election "lost" under highly questionable conditions, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't be at least tempted to give it another go. I DO believe he would have a good chance for getting the nomination if he did decide to run, and I think he would win in November. So if he forms the same conclusion....I have a hunch he will run. And I hope he does. Although my first choice would be Clark.

11. If it's in the Telegraph, I'll recommend against my fear of being too optimistic.
There are other great candidates, and I want them to have their time too.

But if it were determined by a critical mass of caring people that it was Al's time, I'd be right there. I already am.

13. Doesn't he have to file something
and SOON, or not be able to run?

I've heard the rumors, but I KNOW they have file something, anyone?
