It is long overdue for Obama to dump Rahm Emanuel
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 10:57 AM by Mari333

'The White House wants Reid to hand Joe Lieberman the farm.
An aide briefed on discussions with the White House says that there would be no story if Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel hadn't interceded. The aide confirmed an account, reported by Huffington Post, that Emanuel visited Reid personally, telling him to cut a deal with Lieberman.

Then the aide provided more detail.

Emanuel didn't just leave it to Reid to find a solution. Emanuel specifically suggested Reid give Lieberman the concessions he seeks on issues like the Medicare buy-in and triggers'

'We didn't elect Barack Obama to pass a health reform bill that Joe Lieberman and his insurance cronies approve of.'

5. Why? So Obama can tell somebody else to cut deals like this?
Do you REALLY think that Rahm is calling the shots? What could possibly be gained by simply having somebody else in his position?

9. Obama CHOSE
Rahm and will keep Rahm because they are two cozy peas in a pod.

Get over it folks. We were and are the fools. Obama talked a good talk but his choices of Geithner, Summers, Rahm and yes, Senate mentor Liebermann say it all. Anything for Wall Street and Isreal...

Flame me, I don't give a shit any more.

11. Let's face it: President Obama chose Rahm Emanuel...
...and he shows no sign of regretting that choice.

Rahm Emanuel works for President Obama. Anything Emanuel does, he does on President Obama's behalf. There is no sign, none at all, that President Obama disagrees with anything Rahm has done.

As President Truman said: "The buck stops here."

President Obama is the one we need to be focused on. The policies start with him and he has the power. Unfortunately, we can see that what he said during the campaign and what he is doing as President are at odds.

Now don't get me wrong. I did not see him as a radical leftist, or even as a moderate leftist. He was and is a centrist. The unfortunate thing is, as soon as he was elected he became that peculiar form of a centrist, that is really a right-winger. Albeit in his case, a "moderate" right-winger. The DLC type, the inside-the-Beltway type. The type that believes that the USA is a "center-right" country -- in spite of all the polls that show broad support for a center-left agenda.

My opinion of him, after the giveaway to the banksters, after taking single-payer off the table at the outset, after he chose to dismiss the left and the liberal base, after his kowtowing to Republicans and Lieberman, while taking jabs at his own base and at Dean: well suffice to say I am beyond disappointed.

12. So according to Rahm, Traitor Joe is "the decider" on HC reform?
That's enough for me -- sorry Rahm, go take your corrupt politics elsewhere.

13. Yes, and a few others like Geithner, Gates...... It's okay to
hire one left-over from Bush for a cabinet position, as a gesture of
bi-partisanship. But a whole slough of them?
