Poll question: Health Insurance & our pocketbooks
In general, do you think health insurance premiums & out-of-pocket healthcare expenses will go up, down, or stay the same under the new plan? Please give your reasoning, too.

1. I said "go down" - but there's a catch:
I think national averages for dollar amounts spent will go down, because the extreme cases will be addressed in this bill. BUT a greater number of individuals will be paying more out-of-pocket to cover the costs.

While I agree our most immediate concerns have to do with the extreme cases, once again we'll see the middle class (or what's left of it) make the sacrifices.

2. I say UP!
What's stopping them? They can do virtually anything they want now. They successfully, and spectacularly really, steered the entire health care reform movement into their benefit. It's an amazing benchmark accomplishment for corporate influence in America - and an equally amazing indictment on the failure of our democracy.
BTW, I currently pay $468 a month for whatever it is they want to cover. I realize I'm one of the lucky ones at that!

4. Most insurance companies have announced the INCREASES for next year already
They seem to be in the neighborhood of 20%. Although I did hear something about one of them, maybe Aetna raising them 80%.

Anyone who thinks that this bill will lower rates is really fooling themselves.

5. Up, of course
They've given the useless sociopathic shitstains leave to do any goddam thing they want to us. They can even deny us for pre-existing conditions--they'll just say you have a bad credit record.

7. Up - there in no reform
There is nothing in these bills that will reform the biggest problem with our HC system, out of control and rapidly rising costs.

8. There are no price controls, as far as I know.
So there's no reason to think the price will go anywhere but up. After all, many insurance executives are in desperate need of their 8th yacht.
