29. My dear CaliforniaPeggy, when I read your reply, I'm afraid LBJ's words
ran paraphrased through my head...

"If we've lost CaliforniaPeggy, we've lost the party."

It about broke my heart. And I am hardly a party loyalist.

It's just that mine is breaking too.

And we're not.

I'm still a Democrat, though......I will ALWAYS be a Democrat.

33. Please, no apology necessary.
I know that your heart is sore, too. That was the part the was hard to read. I'm one o' them damned "bleeding heart" types of liberals. I think my heart is held together with "bale-ing wire and chewing gum."

I've been through this a few times; as I'm sure you have; so for me, it's harder to see someone else's hope bruised.

I need a teary-eyed smiley.

19. B.S.
Hell, at least when Bush was in office, I didn't get my hopes up. Status quo was well, status quo and that's just what I expected it to be, no disappointments. This whole year has been an exercise in constant compromise. It kinda reminds me of when I got divorced, I compromised until it hurt and still got screwed over in the end.

If they screw this up then I might just walk way from the Democratic party.

What would be the reason for staying if they are ineffectual with a simple majority?

63. From another site
Dems already gave him the whole USofA by way of Homeland Security Chairmanship. He wants more. He wants Mr Reid's job. Heck, why stop there? He may want Mr Obama's job.

Sums up my feelings to a tee.

If Reid loses his seat in 2010, Rahm might consider it a perfect opportunity to slip Joe into the Job. Of course, if the dems lose the Senate, Joe will jump to the repubs.

28. I don't really care if he is doing his best.
I never expected his best. I expect everything he has and nothing less. I expect him to kill himself trying. Why? Because that is the kind of person who deserves the kind of power we all afford him. Not a trying his best, losers always try their best.

I expect arrests, I expect accountability, I expect my president to respect his oath, and most of all I expect him to do everything he can to understand who it is he is screwing when he chooses ineptitude. Thank you Chief of Flaccid Staff power brokering Obama into a compromised presidency.

57. Granted, Obama pledged to work with Senate Democrats "in any meaningful way he can."
OTOH Reid made it quite clear that he doesn't work for Obama. Reid (quite naturally) jealously guards his Senate's constitutionally mandated power.

IMHO the President can only re-iterate his original pledge.

Lieberman would be sitting alone and neutered in the Senate, health reform would have already been passed, the banks and Wall Street would have been reigned in, and unemployment would be normalizing.

We have NOTHING to show for his first year. Zip. Nada. Zero. Except a lot of nice speeches and a dog.

50. Newsflash! We elect those whom we think are better qualified than we
to run our country.

Your argument is the equivalent to saying sarah palin would be a good v.p. because "she's just like me." Or that shrub was someone to vote for because "I'd have a beer with him."

I don't want someone "just like me" or a drinking buddy. I want the smartest and most capable person on the freaking planet to run this country.

That whole "if you think you can do better, do it" crap is just that...crap.

The problem isn't explicitly him and, for issues like war, it's no fantasy...

We have to do our part too.

I'm doing mine.

Another reason I'm proud to go back to college and improve myself instead of pandering to Limbaugh's alter-ego...
