I hope all the DUers are safe and warm tonight (especially the Mid West)

Many of our friends have survived hurricanes, tornadoes, and more. I got home from work ok. The blizzard hits in a few hours. Tomorrow morning will a fun drive to work.

3. It's raining ice here 200 miles south of you
The good news is we had a moveon health care rally and people actually showed up. The bad news is we froze our butts off.

5. Whiney Arizonian signing in. It's cold as heck here.
Yes, it's only 40 but it feels much, much colder.

It's supposed to get below freezing tonight and at 4500 feet above sea level and no humidity equals C O L D.

N.Y when it was 20 deg. No fair! They say the walls of our blood cells thin out when it's always warm.

7. Thinking about you guys, stay safe. We're still in the 80s and high 70s here
in Palm Beach County, which is not a joke. It has never been this consistently warm in December in the 20 years I've been here. The weather is crazy. Global warming is a hoax you say? Stay well to our Mid West DUers..

30. hi there!
my first winter down here (i'm loving it). i'll never forget the morning it took me 3hrs to get to my office (ordinarily a 10 min drive). it was so scary...cars were spinning out of control, it was impossible to move without skidding.

42. Hello! Yes, sometimes the former northerners forget their bad
weather driving lessons. I always loved the "speed up" scenario when the roads are wet and slick. Glad you enjoy being here and a hearty welcome to DU..

9. Don't over exert yourself while shoveling

When I start to hear my heart pound in my eardrums, I stop and and say:

"Screw it, it's going to melt one day, anyways. And on that day, I want to be on top of the dirt rather than below it."

12. Stay safe up there in NE
And don't go to work tomorrow if you're snowed in, it simply isn't worth it.

I'm in Mid MO, and all they're predicting for us is 1-3 inches of snow when all is said and done, but lots of rain beforehand. We'll see. Sometimes the weather guy starts up with an estimate of on inch, and it winds up being a couple of feet.

Oh, and way to nearly knock of the Longhorns last weekend, I was rooting for you guys, one of the few times that I do. You've got your defense back, now all you need is an offense to go with it.

24. I make a recipe-less faux puff pastry for the crust
Flour, cold butter, salt and ice water. Fold and roll, fold and roll, refrigerate, repeat three times. It sounds hard, but I can usually get the whole thing done in about 30 minutes.

The inside is just any veggies I can find, mostly baby carrots, DARK meat (very important IMO), frozen stuffing if I have any left and frozen gravy mixed with chicken broth. I just throw it all in heavy bowls and top with crust. Cooks for about 50 minutes at 375-400.

Cold for the rest of the year, from the look of it.

Just got the pellet stove cleaned out, got 4 bags in the house and 10 more in the shed.
Not going out till around 12:30 PM.

32. At the height of the storm Wednesday morning at 4 a.m. I will be out on my motor route
delivering USA Today. It's going to be fun. I just hope I don't get stuck even if it is just here in town. My Scion is a nice car, but it rides only about a half foot off the street which doesn't help if there is 8" +.

35. It will be an interesting drive. I have to get to a meeting about 30 miles
from my home to pitch the content for a website to a business owner. I'm not amused, but I'll make it, since I could use the money this month.

Slow and easy does it, and I'm leaving plenty early.

43. 23 degrees in Central California tonight.
Okay, I know all you "snowies" are probably laughing your asses off but, damn! That's cold! Brought the critters in tonight. Covered up the orange tree and turned on the gas bbq, turned it on low and put it under the tree. Covered up the square foot gardens. Unfortunately, my broccoli is in pots and didn't survive last night's freeze.

44. Buried in snow in SE Iowa and will be for some time to come.
This storm is still blasting us and is expected to do so for many more hours. Snow is quite heavy here. Brutal windchills from the high winds. List of closings for the area today seems to be endless. We're home and thankful that we stocked well and nothing more than the truck is broken down now. We are looking forwar to plunges in the temperature after the storm ends. Ugh.

Hoping that those without homes were able to find warm shelter this night and throughout the storm. It would be terrible to be at the mercy of these elements with no resources.
