Michigan State in the 1960s was a football powerhouse, because coach Duffy Daugherty went south to recruit where black players were not allowed. So he got the great Bubba Smith to go to State, and George Webster - maybe the greatest linebacker to ever play the game. (Debatable - but Google him for yourself). George Webster was AFL Rookie of the Year, but he was also a horribly afflicted individual with cancer everywhere and more. He died with no legs. They were amputated. I just want DU to know that he was considered as great as they come - ever - in college football, and I had the opportunity to meet him - and he was as great as they come. In every sense.

It was his senior year, (and Bubba's Smith's) in 1966,
versus Penn State which happened to be only Joe Paterno's second game as head coach. George was great. Sorry to hear he's now gone.
