Does the Senate Judiciary Committee have the power to fire Gonzo?
Beyond simply calling for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales's resignation, does the Committee have the power to do any more then make recommendations?

If they deem him unable to lead the Justice Dept. or incompetent, could Shrub ignore the ruling and keep him on board at the pleasure of the President?

1. NO.....
But they can issue a contempt of Congress charge against him for lying under oath.

3. Articles of Impeachment must start in the House.

The Senate can vote a (non-binding "sense of the Senate") resolution condemning/censuring any administration official, I believe ... but they can't 'reverse' their consent.

6. Yes sure - it starts in the house. No problem with that I think.
Waxman will step up, why not?

5. No but they can impeach him.
Starting impeachment proceedings on gonezo would be appropriate if he shows no inclination to fall on his sword. This would get the impeachment ball rolling, and who knows who it might roll over once it gets started?

Not that the theocratic party would vote for conviction, of course.

With an impeachment proceeding in progress in the house the court case to get through a claim of executive privilege becomes much stronger.

Not that the theocratic judges ensconced in the USSC give a rats ass about the law, of course.

8. Did you read my post or just go for the snark?
"With an impeachment proceeding in progress in the house"

I don't know, what could I have meant by that?

9. Nope - I stopped with the idiotically false subject line.

EDIT: The chances of it getting *less* stupid seemed slim to me. Just goes to show: the odds can be beat. Congratulations.

10. Nice non apology. Rudeness is contagious.
I'll remember the next time I fuck up here to not just say "hey you're right, sorry about that". You've set the standard.
