These are the Bad Ole Days.. let those two new reoublican governors enjoy them

Bush-onomics affects every state, and since republicans wanted their guy more than we wanted our guy, let's wish them well, and watch them twist in the wind, as they try to figure a path through the financial wilderness.

Virginia has a one-term limit, so we have THREE years to find someone (not McAwful) who could be interested in being governor...perhaps a democratic military person ..a retired general maybe?..

New Jersey will probably send Christie packing too. The trouble we have will last longer than one governor's term.

We need to start planning for the governors' races that will happen in '10..

I think Kelli-forn-yuh will elect Brown again, and hopefully we can get a universal health care plan just for us, if necessary.. It passed but was vetoed by the austrian.


We need to get busy NOW!

1. Governor is probably the worst job to have right now.

If your congressional delegation doesn't bring in the stimulus money, or a federal jobs program, your people will hate you as they die.

3. Governors are at the mercy of the broader economy.

They have to balance state budgets no matter what (without printing money). A good economy is good for incumbents and a bad economy is bad for incumbents--or so says Eliot Spitzer and Pat Buchanan.

I don't know who'd want the job in a bad economy.

4. I'm hoping Christie pulls a Palin

I honestly don't see him serving out his full term. Corzine was the first full-term governor since Whitman (who left for the Bush administration in her 2nd term). Because of Christie's corruption, I don't see the (d) legislature putting up with any of his bullshit. I hope they're as nasty to him in Trenton as the GOP is to Obama in Washington.

And it puts Cory Booker in a very good position to run and win in 2013. He could fire up places like Asbury Park that did not vote this year.

7. At least you are protected by your one-term rule

and without money, he'll have a hard time doing all that much..

6. Without the Kucinich Amendment states can not establish

plans on their own. So CA can not simply have Brown sign the law and go single payer. The law at this time prevents all states from doing that. CA needs to fight hard to make sure they and other Blue states are free to make a single payer plan if we want to.
