FBI Still Engaging in an Anthrax Cover-Up
Refusing to Investigate FBI’s “Detective Work”

Grassley then goes on to ask about the National Academy of Sciences review of the FBI’s scientific analysis of the FBI’s anthrax case. After Mueller reviews that, Grassley asks whether the FBI would be willing to have an independent review of its “detective work” in the case. Mueller basically says, “no.”

Grassley: Are you opposed to an independent review of the FBI’s detective work, in addition to a review of the scientific evidence?

Mueller: Because of the importance of science to this particular case, investigative steps were often taken to address leads developed by newly evolved science. In addition, the significance of information or evidence we acquired often took on new or enhanced meaning as scientific advances were made. Consequently, a review of the scientific aspect of this case would be the logical first step. There is also ongoing criminal and civil litigation concerning the Amerithrax investigation and information derived therefrom, and an independent review of the FBI’s “detective work” at this time could adversely affect those proceedings.

What an astoundingly bullshit answer!

1. When his case fell apart, Mueller claimed the science would

be definitive.

It wasn't. If anything, it proved FBI got the wrong person. Hell, his own biotech rockstar said the science couldn't solve the case.

They're not even interested in solving the case but in limiting liability in the FL lawsuits. Your government at work --
for the insurance lobby.

2. "adversely affect those proceedings" for whom? The PEOPLE or the state?
We the people should win that one. Right?

4. A false flag op which ever way you want to dice it or slice it.
The perpetrator(s) who had the necessary access to obtain the anthrax from a presumably tightly controlled US military lab mailed the anthrax in letters crudely made to look as if they were sent by Islamic fundamentalists terrorists to politicians who were questioning the necessity of the "Patriot" Act. Now the question is, who was the real terrorist(s) who staged the operation to coincide with 9/11 (within one week) in the first place. Oh what a relief, the FBI assures us it was just another "lone nut." Just move along folks. Nothing to see here.

5. +1, This whole episode stunk to high heavens right off the bat.
All you had to do to get suspicious was consider the targets.

Sept. 18, 2001: Trenton Mailing of anthrax letters to NBC and NY Post and probably to the National Enquirer.
Oct. 9, 2001: Trenton Mailing of anthrax letters to Daschle and Leahy.

I agree with this blogger.. I think it was Bush himself.

There's a pretty compelling timeline at this link.

8. Hmm, the FBI protecting high-level right-wing operatives...

this seems to be a continuing pattern, leading to more and more devastating criminal activities.

We must be careful of speaking ill of our illustrious masters.... it may take them a hundred years but eventually they'll figure out whodunnit. Meanwhile, isn't there a missing dog somewhere?
