WASHINGTON (AP) — Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman says while he's "strongly inclined" to vote to move Sen. Harry Reid's health care plan to the Senate floor for debate, he would ultimately oppose the measure because it includes a public option.

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill.

I don't care if that piece of crap votes against it on the floor, as long as he doesn't block it in a filibuster--because i'm sure we can get 50 plus 1 votes in the full senate with Biden breaking a tie if needed.

1. He can do both
If it goes to the floor for debate then it takes 60 votes to invoke cloture (so he can filibuster at that point).

2. He's no "Independent"
Lieberman has had his head up the elephant's ass for a long time now.

3. Lieberman's a traitor to the Dem party, imho, yet I'm confused...AP says he won't filibuster,
but he will vote against the bill.

Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman said Tuesday that while he won't vote to block Majority Leader Harry Reid's plan from going to the Senate floor for debate, he would ultimately oppose the measure because it includes a public option.

Lieberman said Tuesday in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that he's worried a public option would be costly to taxpayers and drive up insurance premiums. An independent who caucuses with Democrats, Lieberman is among a group of about a dozen moderate senators whose support Reid will need as Senate critical health care votes near.

4. Or let it come to the floor and then filibuster a final vote?
That would also be possible.
