6. So, would you care to tell us how many MORE posts you're gong to reply to with that one "word?"
And maybe even enlighten us as to what the FUCK all your replies that consist of that "word" contributes to this, or any other dicsussion?

Or have I somehow lacked the understanding of the meaning of the constant "D'uhhh" reply? some kind of cosmic thing that I missed out on, maybe?

Some day, I wish I could be as articulate as you.

8. It must be nice ...

... to never have to remember (or dream about) being in combat. Even better, just keep posting obtusely and pretend nobody else has either.

Oh ... I doubt you'll get your wish. Keep trying. :eyes:

13. What? No swaggering, codpiece-inflating, clue-bereft rejoinder?

No more posturing, playground-bullying ("us" vs. "you") rhetoric? No more "ignorance-is-license," loud-mouthed attitude? Gee. Go figure. :eyes:

3. Yes, when I was a social worker ...

but I didn't have to carry a gun. There were those very nice, well-armed deputies that came with me that had to deal with the particulars. I came in afterwards, and was the warmhearted helper. Does that count?

It was a always a good idea to have Deputy M respond with you; he was tall as a sequoia, with a calming voice, and tended to discourage poor behavior.
;)

Edited to add that a deputy never had to use a gun when I was present; but they were always prepared. I responded to many potentially deadly situations; fortunately, no one was shot in my presence.

4. That's kind of subjective
I get the impression some people around here operate under zero tolerance and would fire a gun at someone who poked a finger in their chest. I think without parameters, the poll might not be very useful.

5. Witnessed it? Hell, I was the target of it!
I was attacked by a large, psychotic drunk who was screaming that I was a "fa**ot" and that he was going to kill me. And he nearly did.

Note to Conservatives: being non-gay, I learned that rage-and-hate-filled people don't care whether you actually fit into their category, they want to kill you anyway. Yes, It Could Happen To You. It could even happen to John Derbyshire. Verbum sapienti satis est, dudes.

7. When Librarians Have Guns
When librarians have guns, they'll have to set the circulation desk off from the research desk, to the MLS's aren't shooting at each other. That's a crimestopper.

14. Luckily no.
I knew a police officer who had only ever fired his gun once in a long career -- and that was over a guy's head as a warning shot.

15. I think that I would seriously wound someone who was trying,
to kill me, or main me for that matter. Either way if the intent is to cause physical harm to me or my person, better hope I'm not packin my .40. A drunk asshole was going to take me out with a chain once, a FUCKIN CHAIN! I walked past his Harley as I was entering a bar and the guy went ape-shit. He apparently thought that I was screwing with his ride or some delusional paranoia mixed with crystal-meth. Fortunately some patrons subdued him while I rocketed outta there. Now, I'm no sharp shooter, and given the crazy nature of semi-auto handguns, (they can be a little "squirrelly" when the adrenalin is flowing), I'm not sayin that I would have wanted to kill this guy. But a leg shot would hopefully get you out of someone taking your head off with a swinging chain, or baseball bat.

just sayin...
