See, they think it'll get kids to impregnate each other by 9 or something...

I say it'll teach kids that they don't need to make real, emotional relationships with others for a lifetime of trusted, caring bliss.

3. The first time I had sex it was a beautiful experience....
too bad there was nobody there to enjoy it other than me.

4. I say it will confuse the poor kid.
He can't get an erection at that age. Wait until puberty.

There is some benefit to teaching about masturbation. It stops wet dreams. I remember being really confused about waking up every other night with wet clammy underwear. I had to discover masturbation by myself, and the wet dreams stopped. It would have been nice if someone had told me. My parents never talked about sex, but for me that was a blessing anyway as they both had only elementary grade school educations.

6. Uh... What?
Boys can most certainly have erections before puberty. Anyone who's ever changed a diaper can attest to that!

And they certainly don't wait until puberty to begin "experimenting" down there, either!

12. I was refering to a voluntary erection.
I well remember pre-puberty times when I would have an erection and not know why it was hard. But I knew that it would go away after a while. For me, masturbation didn't start until all the plumbing was online and working. I know that I didn't have an ejaculaton prior to puberty, and without an ejaculation, what's the point of masturbation?

In fact, I remember trying a few times before everything was fully ready, and quitting because nothing happened and it was boring. Once the plumbing worked, that changed.

9. I'm not sure "teaching" it is what we want to do, but
I do think that kids should not be punished or berated for doing what comes naturally.

As far as masturbation being the cause of unhappiness or teaching kids that they don't need to form real relationships with others, that's easy enough even when people have sex with each other.

And really, if a person doesn't have a comfortable relationship with him/herself, how can s/he have any sort of relationship with anyone else? You can't give away what you don't have...

13. Kids masturbate naturally, from very early.
Not for the same reasons adolescents and adults do, because they haven't had the hormone kick-in, but it's pleasurable and comforting and if they're lucky they don't get shamed for it.
