..... obnoxiously pretentious?

"I'm fluent in three sections - business, travel, the book review" :puke:

1. NYT ran the same TV spot for 17 years. Freshened it up just a little recently.

I think it's still the same people reading the paper, minus those who've died of boredom and old age, since 1992.

The NYT is like the House of Lords. Pompous, self-referencing, and irrelevant except as a reliable source of gases for the Royal Derigible Airship Corps.

2. and they all look so yuppie.....
What makes me laugh every time, though, is the guy who says this:

"The best journalists work for the Times," he says, and then his eyes suddenly shift downward, as if caught in a big honkin' embarrassing lie "and there's no debating that".

Uh, huh - Judy Miller, Jayson Blair....

5. OMG -- I thought it was just me! These are the types of people who have me yawning at hello.
The couple that opens up the commecial -- Her: "I think it was the Sunday Styles that brought us together." Him: "I think it was the Week in Review" -- aren't they just so adorable -- gak! :puke:

At first, I was glad they finally got rid of that other obnoxiously perky ad that would send me diving for the mute button every time it appeared -- it was the last line that used to stand my hair on end "... the only thing I like better than doing the crossword puzzle -- is actually finishing it!" A line accompanied of course, by what seems to be the NYT's trademark "isn't that precious" smile/smirk. gak :puke:

Thanks for bringing this up! (So to speak) :hi:
