From the White House: "It's ironic that Congressman Boehner would be complaining...
In an article in the Washington Post today:

Small Group Now Leads Closed Negotiations on Health-Care Bill

Although much of the writing of legislation happens in closed-door meetings, congressional Republicans have sharply criticized the ongoing process.

"This bill is being written in the dark of night," said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), adding that "the president ought to keep his promise to the American people and open this process up."

"It's ironic that Congressman Boehner would be complaining since he has refused every step of the way to participate in the effort to reform health insurance," Reid Cherlin, a White House spokesman, said in a statement. "The House and Senate have held scores of hearings on health insurance reform -- as Congressman Boehner well knows -- and at the White House we've held an unprecedented series of webcast meetings with key health care stakeholders to gather their input in a public forum."

1. Yup. I also love the idea that the President and Dems REFUSED to work with the Repigs...
...when, if anything, they've tried WAY TOO MUCH to include them in the process.

3. The Republicans made a big show of not offering any ideas and not negotiating in good faith.

And Obama made a big show of trying to reach across the aisle. Only the lost would side with Boehner over this. And behold: So far most people back Obama over the Republicans. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4094695

4. Whine & Sheesh Party...
Boner is in permanent crying jag mode...sure beats having to do the real hard work of coming up with meaningful legislation. But then that's not a bad thing as we've barely survived 30 years of his inept party's concept of government that made the major mess we're in now.

Now, I recall seeing the mark-up session on C-SPAN, I sure didn't see that during the DeLay days when those bills were written in lobbyist offices and no one saw it until the floor vote. One was the infamous tobacco bill where Boner himself was handing out lobbyist cash on the House floor to buy votes.

But Boner needs to cry...it's why his approval ratings are in the Cheney range. Thank goodness we don't have a rushpublican leader with a brain, they might be dangerous. The current GOOP leadership is minor league (bush league if you will)...void of both integrity and ideas.

9. If this is any satisfaction I read that a poll had Boner and McConnell at lower approval ratings
than Cheney.

5. It's not ironic. Boehner is liar. Call it what it is. Subtle ironies are lost on these people.

7. "Ironic" is one way to put it
"Cynical" or "mendacious" would also fit.
