1. The PBS program NOVA many years ago devoted a segment to the Bonobos
My jaw kept dropping throughout that program. It was clear that the Bonobos that had been exposed to humans understand most of the nuances of complex human speech and were reacting to them. They may not have been able to vocalize words themselves, but it was clear they understood what was being said. I am amazed for days after seeing that episode of NOVA.
