Where Men Win Glory, Jon Krakauer's Book on Pat Tillman
Edited on Fri Oct-16-09 12:57 AM by HardWorkingDem
For those searching for a book on a remarkable person, pick up this book. I am almost finished with it and my admiration for Tillman and his family grows with each page.

Chapter 31 is a very powerful chapter in the book.

For those not familiar with Pat Tillman, he was a hard driven, athletic, intellectual who left a pro-football career to join the army and become an elite Ranger and was later killed by friendly (what bizarre name) fire in Afghanistan. His death was covered up by the Bush political machine.

This book is filled with wonderful people and people who should be held up in scorn.

For anyone who may have a knee jerk reaction to a football playing man like Tillman, know that one goal of his was to meet Noam Chomsky.

Remarkable person. Sad story and if this were a conservative person, the Republicans would not have let his name fall along the wayside.

5. The Tillman family is remarkable. They're good people
and their story deserves to be told and known.

3. You are quite welcome....
the book does start out somewhat slowly, but Krakauer does delve into geo-politics and the history of bin Laden, the Taliban and other things.

Also, this is one of those books that even though you know how it is going to end, you wish so hard something could happen in the book to make things turn out differently.

The Republicon chickenhawks should have Eternal SHAME for the way they dissed and abused this American military hero.
