Meme of the Day 090929

Normism - an emotional craving for similarity, which manifests as an aversion to diversity.

All common forms of group hatred; racism, anti-semitism, sexism, homophobia, etc. are facets of the same condition, Normism.

1. 090929? That's a long way out into the future, my friend. Bookmarked.
We'll see if it's true.

3. Year first, then month, then day.
Computer sorts chronologically that way -- good way to label records.

7. 090929 = 2009 - September - 29th day
Starting file names this way keeps them sorted in chronological order.

Can add hour in military time also too if desired.

And you haven't even seen the original-design pipecleaner kitty toys I've made.

Plus I discovered this morning that I remember almost all of the words to "Buckle Down Winsocki Buckle Down."

Talents like mine, you just do not find every day.

4. As demonstrated in classic Normist utterings
As demonstrated in classic Normist utterings:

"It's not normal."

"Wierdo."

I'm sure that you can think of others.

Looking at group hatred in this way, one can see that a jock calling a goth a wierdo is no less corrosive and reprehensible than a redneck using his favourite seven letter racial epithet. An aversion to diversity presents itself in all kinds of situations and in all kinds of people.

The danger comes in imagining that we ourselves are not capable of Normism. That's when it sneaks up and we start discriminating against people for having the temerity to be different to us in some manner.
