Assistant Pastor Charged With Lewd Act On Girl, 9

WHITTIER, Calif. An assistant pastor at Whittier Seventh-Day Adventist Church has been charged with performing a lewd act on a 9-year-old girl, authorities said.

Misael Blanco Sarsoza, 56, of West Covina, was working as an assistant pastor when the child's grandparents reported the suspected molestation to Whittier police, who arrested him April 5, authorities said.

Sarsoza gave Bible study classes and prepared sermons for the church. He had direct contact with various children in the church.

Sarsoza was freed after posting $100,000 bail and will appear in Whittier Superior Court on April 27 to face the charge.
