Reid Takes Swipe At “Gang Of Six,” Suggests GOP Not Acting “In Good Faith”

In his floor speech this afternoon, Harry Reid clearly took a swipe at the bipartisan “Gang of Six” and went further than ever before in hitting Republicans for not negotiating in good faith, a sign he may be moving towards doing a Dem-only bill through “reconciliation.”

A source sends over a transcript of the speech, and the key bit comes where Reid alludes to a letter he sent last spring to his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnell:
http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Mitch_McConnell

**** I made clear that bipartisanship depended on Republicans demonstrating a sincere interest in legislating, offering concrete and constructive proposals, and working together in our common interest -– rather than against each other and against the interests of the American people.

****I stand by that assessment as strongly today as I did this spring. And it is painfully clear to everyone who has seen this debate’s disturbing turns and dishonest tactics that more than ever, we now need people willing to work in good faith.

For Reid, that’s actually pretty sharp criticism — a clear reference to the Republican Senators on the “Gang of Six” and the GOP leadership, and a clear suggestion that they’re “dishonest” and not “sincere” or “willing to work in good faith.”

14. He suggests that they are not acting in good faith?
Where has he been? Several of them have admitted it.

You know, I think after a certain age, people should no longer be allowed to run for office. I don't know if it's bad eye site, bad hearing or dementia setting in, but many don't seem to have a clue about what is going on around them.

17. the gang of six is like an island
in the middle of a river. The stream of events has just run straight past them. They are irrelevant to the debate now. Nobody cares......and suddenly HR realises this, good work buddy, earning your pay right there.

18. of all the bad things you can say about the republicans "not acting in good faith" is not among them
at this point, when they identify themselves as "republican" they're pretty clearly telling you they're out to screw you and will lie, cheat, and steal to enrich themselves at your expense.

in short, they're actually pretty honest about their dishonesty.

19. Gee. Ya think?
Haggle for months until you massage all the guts out of the bill so it really doesn't have any chance of actually doing anything, then vote against it anyway.

Yep. I guess they are not 'negotiating in good faith.'

Most sane people noticed that a couple of years ago.

This is completely out of character for him, showing a spine and determination for something slightly left of center.

Reid to Hold Breath Until GOP Promises to Play Nice

jees... I've got a 12 yr. old daughter with 20 times the fight in her that Reid has. Statements like that usually signal that he's ready to cave now, we've seen it over and over again.
