Republicans would be clamoring for the Public Option if we were pushing for Single Payer
Republicans would be chanting "Public-Option, Public-Option" at town hall meetings and drowning out their duly elected Representatives if we were pushing for Single Payer, and who knows, they just might win.

President Obama, my President Obama, would be better off shooting for the whole ball of wax and losing than starting off with compromise and indicating a perfect willingness to settle for less. Would you begin negotiations for a new car or home by offering the highest price you were willing to pay as your opening bid?

2. I think you may be right.
The public option would have been the compromise.

3. OF COURSE! You get absolutely nowhere just whimpering and accepting less right
out of the box. Fight with murder in your eye. Use everything you've got and then some...

4. I'm for Single Payer in its own right, not as a means to a different end. nt

6. And he didn't even have to push it himself!
All that had to be done was to allow Single Payer a seat at the fucking table like he promised!

7. Exactly
And the discussion would be centered on health care for all (as it should be) rather than about than about what kind of insurance for all.

9. Most likely true. But there wasn't enough Democrats to support it. This party is frustrating
to the max sometimes.
