Greatest President ever?
Edited on Tue Aug-25-09 10:51 AM by Javaman
I was musing to myself during my drive to work this morning about the repubs stone walling the health care debate/reform.

Then it hit me.

Yes, if the Dems get this through, the repubs will basically take up permanent residence in the political wilderness.

But more so, if the national health plan goes through with single payer, 20/20 hide sight will give massive props to Obama as the president who changed a nation.

That is the last thing the repukes will want.

Just think of it, after morons* reign of terror, we have a Democratic President who comes in an creates a massive program to help everyone in the nation (whether they want it or not lol). That would effectively, erase any faux legacy ray-gun, or moron* ever hoped to leave (via a massive rewrite of history, of course).

Those two crooked mental midgets would be dwarfed in comparison.

There is so much at play and the repubs are freaking out on so many levels. It's kind of amusing to watch.

1. It's life or death for the GOP
They must stop Obama in hopes of ever regaining the White House and maybe even the majority again.

But then they can always resort to stealing elections if necessary.

3. Even then, I just don't think it's going to be enough.
The GOP really screwned themselves by not sawing off their ankle-chains to the whack-a-doo PentaBaptists, racists, corporate laissez-failers who shanked the working class and angry Reagan Democrat leftovers who are still looking for the "Reds undah th' bed!"

Their leading candidate is a whack-a-doo, soon-to-be-divorced loon who can't even run her own state. They got NO one. Their name brands are gone and spent. Jeb Bush can't even save them because his dad is in the Top 5 of Rotten and his brother was the worst president EVER, and a war criminal on top of it.

4. so hard to see with the eye of history when you're living it
especially when events have yet to unfold.

regardless, healthcare will be hard to compete with SO MANY fdr programs.

besides, the times make the president. obama has a good opportunity, but if depression is averted, he ironically is not dealt as playable a hand as fdr or lincoln was.

either of those great presidents might have been also-rans had they presided during calmer times.
